After about twenty seconds, a voice came through, "This is Lukar, who's there?"
Rob's heartbeat grew stronger and faster, his mouth dry, perhaps from drinking too much. He should have heeded the bartender's advice and opted for a glass of milk.
He pressed his hand to his chest as if to tame its fierce pounding, "It's me, Scarecrow."
Scarecrow was his codename. In the Federation, Scarecrow carried many special meanings; he felt he could become a watcher.
"Oh, Mr. Scarecrow, thank you for your last report. It has greatly advanced the cause of justice. So, do you have good news for me this time?"
Rob glanced back at the distant intersection, lowering his voice a notch.
He knew actually the other party couldn't hear him, let alone across dozens of meters from a person in a phone booth, but he still spoke in hushed tones.
