While Lance and William were discussing the possibility of Mr. Jiobaf becoming their adversary, Mr. Jiobaf was also discussing this with the Mayor.
"...Lance holds a high position in the hearts of the imperial immigrants, and if he supports that William in the election, I can hardly say victory is assured."
The Mayor sat behind his office desk, frowned, and looked at the documents on the table. His left hand held a cigarette that he hadn't smoked in a long time.
So much so that a considerable amount of ash had accumulated.
It was as though he had come to some understanding, or perhaps Mr. Jiobaf's words had startled him; his hand shook slightly, and ash fell onto the edge of the desk.
He hurriedly picked up the documents and blew forcefully beside him.
The ash scattered, and after he shook the documents, he remembered Mr. Jiobaf was still there.
"Just a moment," he said, taking a pen and making some marks on the documents, then put them into a folder.
