This is the old city district of Datong Prefecture City; the houses are all single-story, with streets unpaved and uneven, garbage strewn everywhere.

There were many in Tunmen District who had ruined their families and resorted to selling wives and children because of opium addiction, so the locals held deep disdain, even more so than for the prostitutes in brothels.
Soon, the addict, his face alight with excitement, entered a courtyard.
This courtyard housed an opium den; though known as a den, many were aware of its presence, some had reported it, but to no avail. Instead, the person who reported it was dead not long after.
Thus, no one reported it again.
