She reached out and grabbed his arm, clearly intending to enjoy the moment. Startled, Sinyeong quickly pulled away.
“Enough!”
“Oh my—could it be that Your Highness is sulking?”
She tilted her head, mock-concerned. “Is this because I said I only brought you so Sohwa wouldn’t scold me?”
That hit a nerve.
“Me? Sulking? Don’t be ridiculous!”
He raised his voice, but Hwayeong didn’t seem to hear a word. She picked up one of the rice cakes and shoved it into his mouth before he could say anything else—like she was telling him to shut up and chew.
Sinyeong frowned, too polite to spit it out. Hwayeong popped another into her own mouth, then turned to the vendor.
“I’ll take this one, and those over there, please.”
Then she glanced back at Sinyeong.
“With your guards tailing us, we wouldn’t even be able to talk like this.”
