Chapter 192: Seahorse Douluo's Shock
Since learning the truth about his mother and the Tang Sect secrets being spread, Tang San was undeterred. Instead, he trained harder than ever, vowing to take revenge on Spirit Hall and find whoever dared to leak the Tang Sect's secrets, ensuring they paid a heavy price. This response fit Tang San's determined and sometimes obsessive nature. The three things he valued most—Xiao Wu, the Tang Sect, and revenge—often fueled his relentless drive.
Meanwhile, Yang Potian was wholly focused on leading his team to Sea God Island.
In recent days, Niu Meng had reached level 60 and obtained his spirit ring, making him a level 61 Spirit Emperor. After careful scouting and planning, the group secured a reliable sea transport crew heading to Sea God Island with supplies. Yang Potian also paid a hefty sum to obtain detailed maps of Sea God Island from various sources, comparing them to ensure accuracy. His father, Yang Zhentian, projected an imposing aura to guarantee the crew's loyalty, as this journey could take close to a month. The open sea was not to be taken lightly, especially if they encountered the kind of pirates from the original story. Yang Potian definitely did not want to meet the Deep Sea Demon Whale King.
With all precautions in place, they finally set sail for Sea God Island.
Looking out over the endless, rolling waves, the group felt a thrill at the sight of the vast ocean. Yang Potian took charge of the rotations, assigning himself, Yang Ping'an, and Niu Meng to take turns watching the compass and steering.
After nearly twenty days at sea, they arrived near Sea God Island. In the distance, a faint blue glow shimmered, solemn and majestic. The crew refused to get any closer, as they considered the island sacred and untouchable. When Yang Potian thanked the captain, he prepared to make the final stretch alone; they'd have to figure out how to cover the last few dozen kilometers to the island themselves.
For Yang Potian, this was a simple task. Summoning his spirit power, he lifted his five companions, spread his wings, and soared toward Sea God Island. Over years of cultivation, his Eagle-Tiger Wings had reached the 70,000-year level, with a wingspan of nearly five meters and a stunning speed.
Covering the last distance in only ten minutes, they soon found themselves hovering above the island's coastline.
As they entered Sea God Island's airspace, they touched down on a beach rather than continuing their flight. Yang Potian had sensed a subtle force in the air, likely a barrier restricting spirit masters from flying directly over the island. The scenery was breathtaking: a lush landscape stretched before them, full of vibrant greenery and the life essence of a primeval forest. The atmosphere here was rich, pure, and untouched, unlike the Star Dou Forest's mix of survival and savagery.
The beach gleamed under the sunlight, its sands white as snow. The sparkling blue sea stretched to the horizon, and seagulls soared overhead, creating an idyllic scene. The three girls couldn't help but cheer; after the long sea journey, they were overjoyed to finally arrive.
But just then, seven people emerged from the forest, all dressed in yellow, their attire differing from that of mainland spirit masters. Judging by the fluctuations of spirit power, it was clear they were also spirit masters. The leader looked furious, apparently angered by this intrusion on Sea God Island.
"Who are you, and why have you trespassed on Sea God Island?" he demanded.
Yang Potian stepped forward respectfully, "Honored seniors, the six of us came out of deep admiration for Sea God Island's prestige. We wish to undergo the trials to join Sea God Island."
The middle-aged leader looked doubtful as he observed the six of them closely. "Judging by your appearance, you're land-based spirit masters. Sea God Island does not welcome outsiders, and especially not those from the mainland. Leave now, as you came."
Yang Potian, not backing down, replied, "Respected senior, I've heard that mainland spirit masters can undergo the trials to join Sea God Island. Could you please confirm if this is true?"
The leader eyed him suspiciously, "You seem well-informed. But I'll warn you again—it's true that mainland spirit masters can attempt the trials, but the Sea God's tests are exceedingly harsh for those from the mainland. I doubt you'd survive."
"Though you're all quite young and clearly talented, entering Sea God Island requires more than courage. You'll need the Sea God's favor to survive. If you truly wish to stay, know that you risk your lives."
Yang Potian gave a calm smile. "Senior, rest assured, we are not reckless. We came here with clear purpose and are prepared to face the consequences."
"As spirit masters, we must face challenges to grow stronger. Please allow us the opportunity to prove ourselves."
After Yang Potian finished speaking, he glanced at his team. Yang Tianyue and the others looked determined. In unison, they declared, "We are not afraid. Senior, please grant us this chance."
The spirit master studied them, impressed but concerned. He was a Spirit Emperor and couldn't gauge their power, indicating they were likely Spirit Emperors themselves. They looked to be barely twenty, with the youngest, Yang Tianyue, appearing to be a student. Shaking his head, he warned them once more.
"I'll give you one last chance to turn back. The Sea God's trial is more than a test of strength and courage; it's about whether the Sea God's blessings are with you."
"At times, the trial may be as simple as scooping a handful of sand; at others, it may require battling a 100,000-year spirit beast. Once the trial begins, there's no going back. You will either pass or die. Are you all prepared for that?"
Yang Potian responded firmly, "We are ready, Senior. We want to undergo the trial."
The others echoed his words, "We are all ready. Please allow us to undergo the trial."
The spirit master sighed, defeated by their resolve. He muttered instructions to one of the other spirit masters, who quickly disappeared into the forest. Then he turned back to Yang Potian and his group.
"Follow me. I hope you won't regret this." He led them off the beach and into the forest.
Yang Potian and his five companions cautiously followed the middle-aged spirit master into the forest, where a narrow path led them through the dense woods. As they walked, Yang Potian tried using his senses to probe their surroundings, but it was as if an invisible force blocked him—similar to the aura of the Slaughter City, though this power felt even stronger.
The middle-aged spirit master noticed Yang Potian's attempts and calmly remarked, "Don't try to sense anything. This is Sea God Island, where everything is protected under the Sea God's blessing."
Yang Potian's expression shifted slightly; the Sea God was indeed intriguing, capable of bestowing such divine protection over an island spanning hundreds of kilometers—far greater than the Slaughter City.
After walking for a while, they arrived at a strange-looking pond surrounded by thick forest. The water was about 500 meters across, and at its center stood a triangular platform with a peculiar stone pillar. The pillar was conical, with a unique sculpture carved at the top and intricate patterns covering its length, emanating an aura of boundless energy that seemed to extend over the entirety of Sea God Island.
At the center of the pillar sat a solitary figure dressed in black, who Yang Potian guessed must be one of the Sea God Island's Seven Sacred Pillars—and likely a titled Douluo as well.
As they approached, the middle-aged spirit master grew more solemn. "Welcome to the Sea Within the Sea and the Seahorse Sacred Pillar, one of Sea God Island's Seven Sacred Pillars. The Sea God bestowed divine power upon these pillars to spread his will, and any of them can be used to conduct tests for foreign spirit masters. You will receive the Sea God's trial here."
He then bowed respectfully to the Seahorse Pillar and called out, "Seahorse Douluo, we have outsiders from the mainland who wish to undergo the Sea God's trial and join Sea God Island. Please grant your permission."
The man seated at the Seahorse Pillar opened his eyes, and a powerful surge of spirit energy filled the air. "Mainland spirit masters want to undergo the Sea God's trial? You must first cross the Sea Within the Sea and reach the Seahorse Pillar to earn the right to take the trial."
In an instant, the calm waters surged into waves, and a strange energy radiated from the top of the Seahorse Pillar, blanketing the pond and exerting a great pressure over the area.
Hearing this, Yang Potian and his companions exchanged glances. Yang Ping'an was the first to step forward. "I'll go first and give it a try."
Without hesitation, he leapt into the water. Facing the crashing waves, Yang Ping'an summoned his spirit weapon, the Soul-Breaking Spear, and repeatedly stabbed at the waves, piercing through them. However, Seahorse Douluo raised his hand, and the waves intensified, growing more turbulent. With a look of determination, Yang Ping'an activated his fifth spirit skill, White Tiger Annihilation. A massive Soul-Breaking Spear split the waves in two, allowing Yang Ping'an to follow its path swiftly to the Seahorse Pillar.
Seahorse Douluo nodded approvingly. "Your spear technique is impressive—resolute and unwavering. I'd say few Spirit Emperors could match you. With such strength at barely twenty, it's no wonder you're confident about coming to Sea God Island. You have earned the right to face the Sea God's trial."
One by one, the others took their turns crossing the Sea Within the Sea, each using their own unique methods.
Next up was Dugu Yan, who took a direct approach. She released her poison, incapacitating the sea soul beasts within range, and as the waves surged toward her, her Jade Phosphor Serpent Emperor used its tail to slash through them. She then transformed into her serpent form and glided across the water with ease, using her serpent's natural swimming ability.
Seahorse Douluo was left speechless at the sight of all the poisoned sea soul beasts. "Isn't that poison a bit excessive?" he muttered. Thankfully, Dugu Yan cleared the poison afterward, so they wouldn't risk making enemies on the island.
The third to go was Niu Meng. Though only twenty, he was over two meters tall with a physique as solid as a boulder, resembling a human bull. Ignoring the waves and sea soul beasts entirely, he activated his defense and charged straight through, barely flinching.
Seahorse Douluo was stunned yet again. "Young man, your defense is impressive. I doubt any Spirit Emperor can rival your resilience."
The fourth to cross was Ye Lingling. Thanks to her strong physical abilities, she used a self-created spirit skill Yang Potian had taught her—the Spirit Power Spiral—to smash through the waves and sprint across. When more waves and sea soul beasts attacked, her body emitted a red glow, activating her spirit's innate skill, Divine Shield, which repelled everything in her path until she reached the shore.
Seahorse Douluo looked at her with astonishment. "Young lady, if I'm not mistaken, you're a healing-type spirit master, right? I never expected such an impressive self-created skill, and that last skill—what was that?"
Ye Lingling quickly bowed. "Senior, that skill came from my evolved martial spirit, and I call it Divine Shield. The previous skill was something a friend taught me."
Seahorse Douluo's thoughts raced. Since when did evolved martial spirits come with skills of this caliber? And that self-created skill—taught by a friend? This young woman is only around twenty!
Next, it was Yang Tianyue's turn, and her approach was even more aggressive. Wielding her Soul-Breaking Spear, she charged forward with a powerful spirit skill, plowing through the waves even more forcefully than Yang Ping'an.
Seahorse Douluo's expression turned to shock. "Young lady, you don't look like you're even twenty yet, but you're already at the Spirit Emperor level?"
Yang Tianyue replied promptly, "Senior, I am Yang Tianyue, age fifteen, spirit power level sixty-six."
Seahorse Douluo's face darkened. A fifteen-year-old Spirit Emperor? What kind of monsters are these?
