Unaware of the dangers heading toward the town, Xavier retired to bed with Selene.
While Selene was sound asleep, Xavier was awake, thinking of his next move. They had finally gotten rid of Gabriel, but many others still needed to be dealt with so he could have a peaceful life with Selene before someone else would show up.
The next person Xavier wanted to go after was Darius, and with the holy weapon he had in his hold, that would be possible.
What Xavier needed now was the perfect timing for Darius to be away from his guards so the kill wouldn't be seen.
If not for Selene, Xavier would have long killed Darius and not cared about who would come after him. Now, he had to keep Selene tucked away where she would be safe since others would go after her if they couldn't get to him.
Xavier raked his fingers through Selene's hair. Since Gabriel's death, Selene seemed a little bit more relaxed, but Xavier knew she wouldn't be truly comfortable until they got rid of Cassandra.
