Chapter 295 - Chapter 295: The Mirror World

The Mirror World

Suddenly entering the Mirror World, the Wizard streaked across the sky like a meteor, rapidly descending towards the ground.

The rules of the Mirror World are generally similar to those of the Wizard World, but the energy concentration in the air is dozens of times higher than that of the Wizard World.

In this world, Wizards are akin to being immersed in a low-density Magic Power solution, with energy continuously absorbed by their cells and then converted into their Magic Power. Even without Magic Stones, they need not worry about Magic Power depletion.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

With a series of loud noises, the Wizards entering the Mirror World landed on the ground.

"Wow, the energy concentration is really high here," Richard remarked as he sensed the surrounding environment.

"Of course! I've heard this place mimics the former Wizard World, which was much stronger than the current Wizard World," Chuckes replied casually beside Richard.

"The former Wizard World..." Richard stroked his chin, puzzled. "Then this place must be filled with treasures. How could the council use such a place as a battlefield?"

Anna, who had also landed beside Richard, chimed in:

"At first glance, it's clear you don't know much about the Mirror of the World. The Mirror World is essentially a real illusion.

Once the things inside the Mirror World leave, they will vanish, and even the energy we feel right now is just an illusion.

Even if we convert this energy into Magic Power, it will disappear once we leave the Mirror World."

Richard's expression changed slightly upon hearing this. "If that's the case, then our cells absorbing this energy for operation—won't they starve to death once we exit the Secret Realm?"

Anna shook her head and explained, "That won't happen. The illusions of the Mirror World are Real Illusions. The essence of Real Illusion lies in its ability to shift between the real and the unreal.

The energy in the Mirror World is real, but it becomes fake once we leave. Once absorbed and transformed by your body, it becomes real, but if you merely collect it and let it flow back into your Magic Power, then it remains fake.

Real Illusion is a major topic of research for the Curse School, and there's still no definitive conclusion on it.

However, it can be confirmed that the energy we have completely transformed will not disappear just because we leave the Mirror World."

Richard listened, feeling somewhat confused, but he understood the last sentence clearly.

His cells would not suddenly starve to death upon leaving the Mirror World.

"As long as I won't starve, that's fine," Richard said nonchalantly. "Besides this, are there any other characteristics of this world, Senior Sister?"

"Um... none that I can think of, but there are rumors of some strange creatures in this world, though they have never been confirmed."

Richard nodded and then turned his gaze to the sky.

At this moment, the last group of Wizards had entered the Mirror World, and the Academy War had officially begun.

Buzz!

Richard's Communication Crystal Ball suddenly emitted a wave of energy. He glanced at the message and then at Anna and Chuckes.

At that moment, their Communication Crystal Balls also received the message.

"Is it from the teacher?" Anna asked.

Richard nodded, and the other students of Jolod also nodded in agreement.

Without further ado, they turned and flew towards the central black tower.

On the ninety-ninth floor of the black tower, Jolod was, as usual, sitting in the laboratory, flipping through a Magic Book. Upon seeing several Wizards who had received the message enter through the door, he set down the Magic Book and smiled slightly.

"Good, you all made it."

Anna was the first to ask, "Teacher, what do you need us for?"

Jolod waved his hand, "Sit down first, and I'll explain bit by bit."

They all sat down, and Jolod returned to his chair, his tone becoming somewhat serious.

"You should all be aware of the situation regarding this Academy War. The opposing Meteor Wizard Academy has twice our number of students, many of whom are inexperienced in battle.

However, the fireballs cast by old Wizards are just as deadly as those cast by student soldiers.

The command center has tentatively drafted a defensive strategy, so I've selected a few defensive areas for you."

The Wizards exchanged glances, a hint of surprise flashing in their eyes.

Is this the power of the vice president?

Directly assigning them defensive zones.

Seeing that his students misunderstood his intentions, Jolod immediately cleared his throat.

"Ahem, don't overthink it. I'm assigning you defensive zones because I understand your abilities. These places are not particularly easy to defend, and you will still face the Wizards from the Meteor Academy.

However, these areas are well-suited for you to leverage your strengths, and that's the only help I can offer you."

In such significant matters, even Suzanna would not show obvious favoritism towards her students.

All they could do was ensure their students could maximize their strengths on the battlefield; whether they survived or not would depend on their luck.

Jolod took out a Crystal Ball and tapped on it a few times.

Soon, the information about their defensive zones appeared on each of their Crystal Balls.

"You all received the information, right? If you did, hurry and report in; the Wizards from the Meteor Academy will be attacking soon."

The Wizards nodded and hurried to their respective defensive zones, leaving only Richard standing in place.

"Teacher, what about my defensive zone?" Richard asked, looking at the Crystal Ball with some confusion.

Jolod looked deeply at Richard. "Come with me; your task is different from theirs."

Jolod exited the laboratory and flew up to the top of the black tower. Richard followed him all the way to the three-hundredth floor of the tower.

This level is the highest that Wizards can reach; above it lies the residence of the Great Wizards.

On the three-hundredth floor, Jolod landed and opened a large door.

Behind the door sat several Wizards, some familiar and some unfamiliar to Richard.

However, judging by the energy fluctuations of these Wizards, they were all at least Third Circle Wizards.

"Looks like this is the command center," Richard thought to himself.

In the room, besides a few Third Circle Wizards, there were also several Second Circle Wizards like Richard.

These Wizards, like Richard, were filled with confusion about the upcoming task.

Jolod led Richard into the room and casually closed the door behind him.

As the wooden door closed, a field instantly enveloped the entire room.

Based on Richard's experience, this should be a type of Magic Array that blocks external probing.

Inside the room was a large round table. Jolod sat down beside the table, and Richard stood quietly behind him, waiting for what would happen next.

Before long, the door opened again, and this time Suzanna entered, followed by another Second Circle Wizard.

Suzanna glanced at the number of Second Circle Wizards in the room and said:

"Everyone is here, so let's begin."

As Suzanna took her seat, the Ericus at the far end of the room spoke up:

"Everyone, we've called you here to assign you a challenging task.

You should already know that our strategy is defensive, to respond to changes with stability.

However, besides defense, we also need some elite Wizards to harass the Meteor Academy, to divert some of their forces.

In other words, to act as the 'Black Wizards' in this Academy War."

The several Second Circle Wizards remained silent, quietly waiting for Ericus to continue.

Ericus continued, "And you few are the elite Wizards we have chosen. Your strengths are all quite remarkable, and you are all Second Circle. The deans of our two academies do not have any deep-seated grudges, so we Third Circle Wizards will not be too serious.

As long as you do not invade the Core Wizard Tower of the Meteor Academy, with your combat abilities, the chances of returning safely are quite high."

After Ericus finished speaking, a Second Circle Wizard asked, "Vice Dean, what's the reward? This task is quite dangerous; don't be stingy."

Ericus glanced at the questioning Wizard, an old Wizard of similar age to Jolod.

But since he had not advanced to Third Circle, this Wizard exuded an air of decay.

"Anka, you're still as impatient as ever."

Ericus continued, "If you can complete this task, the dean's treasury will be opened to you.

You can take out three items from it."

Upon hearing this, the several Second Circle Wizards paused in their breathing.

Although the Great Wizards of the black tower had only been Great Wizards for a few thousand years, even the poorest Great Wizard had a treasury that could dazzle these lesser Wizards.

Ericus revealed a sly smile, reminiscent of a fox. "So, how about that? Are you satisfied with this reward?"

The several Second Circle Wizards nodded in agreement.

"As long as you're satisfied, then do your best. Here, sign this."

Ericus took out a stack of contracts and presented them to the several Second Circle Wizards.

One of the Second Circle Wizards took the contract and expressed some dissatisfaction, "Vice Dean, what do you mean by this?"

"What do you mean?" Ericus sneered, "Without signing the contract, how can I ensure you won't slack off?

There are a few masters in the Meteor Academy who are quite knowledgeable about the Communication Crystal Ball, so your Communication Crystal Balls should only be checked at special times each day.

For the rest of the time, it's best to keep them in your Magic Pocket.

If you expose your Communication Crystal Ball for too long, just wait to be caught."

Hearing Ericus's explanation, the several Second Circle Wizards stopped arguing and took out their quills to sign the contract.

As the contracts turned to flames and vanished into the air, Ericus nodded in satisfaction.

He stood up and performed a Wizard salute to the several Wizards.

"The upcoming war will depend on your performance."

...

After leaving the command center, Jolod handed Richard a Synthetic Beast Pocket on the way.

"This is something I made using your Living Flesh. Its various data exceeds your requirements."

As he spoke, Jolod revealed a hint of surprise.

"Although this Living Flesh is not universal, the synthetic beasts made from them have unexpectedly long lifespans. I estimate these few will live up to eighty years."

Richard took the pocket and, with a sweep of his mental energy, identified the contents—inside were five Dragon Beasts optimized by Jolod.

"The natives do have their merits, don't they, Teacher?" Richard joked with a smile.

Jolod, upon hearing this, was not offended but instead spoke with a hint of reflection in his tone:

"This thing is indeed good. I was a bit too arrogant before and lost the humility of a seeker."

The two exchanged pleasantries for a while before finally parting outside the central black tower.

Before parting, Jolod patted Richard on the shoulder and cautioned, "Richard, you are my most outstanding student. Although I am confident in your abilities, I still want to say one thing.

Be careful, and do not be greedy."

Richard smiled at this, "Don't worry, Teacher. I survived the Plane War just fine; how

could I die this time?"

Jolod said seriously, "Don't be arrogant. Think things through; you've earned so much Magic Essence. If you die, it will all be for nothing."

Richard nodded and turned to leave.

Jolod watched Richard's figure slowly disappear, sighed, and then returned to the command center.
