Once inside, Rhiannon dropped her bag, kicked off her boots, and turned to me, hands on hips. "Alright, girlfriend. What are we watching?"
Something about the way she said girlfriend made my heart do a small somersault.
She said it so easily, like it had always been true, like there hadn't been this entire saga of chaos, confusion, magical dimension-hopping, forbidden romance, and emotional turbulence getting us to this point.
Nope. Just casually tossing it out like, "Hey, pass the salt," or, "We didn't nearly die in a cave twice and traumatize each other emotionally. That never happened."
I raised an eyebrow, stepping past her and heading for the couch, trying to ignore the stupid grin tugging at my lips. "Oh, you're just gonna call me that now, huh?"
She flopped onto the couch like she owned it. "Well, I would've gone with 'supreme queen of my heart,' but I figured we should start small."
I laughed, grabbing the remote from the coffee table. "You're lucky you're cute."
