Lanling felt his entire body lose its strength.
But knowing that Haruki would be distracted if he so much as faltered where he stood, he reeled himself back, his knuckles turning white from his tight fist.

He struggled to steady his voice.
"And find that goddamn Talent user!"
With a sharp wave of his hand, he pulled out the Bead of Enlightenment. All the questions spiraling in his mind vanished, leaving only one.
"Tell me how I can undo a disintegration spell."
The bead shattered upon his words. White fragments lingered in the air, freezing for a moment before rushing toward his forehead.
The cool sensation did nothing to soothe his worries. And when the answer came, his heart sank.
