Haruki's heart skipped a beat, heat rushing to his face. But just as his shyness peaked, a sharp pain tore through his mind.
He winced, frowning as he clutched his forehead.
Lanling's heart lurched, his mind instantly latching onto a possibility he dared not believe.
"...No way. Which part of what I said triggered it...?"
He murmured under his breath, barely softening his voice for fear that speaking aloud would provoke the curse further.
"I wouldn't say that out loud either if I were you."
A feminine voice—one that was eerily familiar—echoed through the teleportation chamber. At least, Lanling thought he was still in the teleportation chamber.
When he lifted his head, he was stunned to find he had been unknowingly teleported into a sparsely furnished throne room. Exquisitely carved pillars rose majestically in this grand chamber, framing towering stained-glass windows.
