Chapter 27 - 27. Village of Lucia

"This sword truly belonged to that man?" Armaros asked in wonder at the weapon.

The only weapons that he is sure was used by his ancestor is the sword and lance that is in the possession of his mother, and he has seen the two weapons and how powerful they are, and he can feel a faint connection to it as well.

"Yes. It is the most prized artifact of our village, and I know that you might not believe my words, so I don't mind it." The chief said to him as the man knew that believing something like this is hard for most people.

"It's fine. I don't think you are lying." Armaros said as he smiled a bit at the man.

'He must be really happy to be in possession of a sword like that.' Armaros thought to himself as he glanced at the sword one more time.

"I'm glad to hear that. In any case, there is a guest house where you can stay for the night. It's usually available all the time since we don't know when someone from outside our village will appear here." The chief said to him with a humble smile on his face.

"I appreciate that. It has been a long journey to get here, so having a place to spend the night in is nice." Armaros said to the man as he wanted to sleep on a bed.

"Then I will not take more of your time. I'm sure you can check out our village tomorrow." The chief said to him as he smiled.

"That is the idea." Armaros said as he didn't want to explore the village at night.

"Then my servant will give you the directions for the house. I hope you enjoy our village after you wake up, it wouldn't hurt to have more people come to visit us." The chief said to him with a smile as he gave the servant a look as she gave a short bow in turn.

"Sure." Armaros said as he followed the servant as she guided the boy out.

The chief watched the door close before he turned to the sword in the case as he has a look of reverence as he clasped his hands together and bowed his head to the sword.

"Oh great hero. Please keep on protecting our village." The chief said in reverence at the artifact that has been in the village.

Armaros meanwhile was escorted to the guest house as he entered it and the man who was taking care of it welcomed him and also asked him about the food he wanted. After telling the housekeeper what he wanted he went to his room and got comfortable as he laid on the bed immediately.

He let out a sigh as he felt the material of the bed on his back as he felt some relief at seeing the roof as well. He still kept his weapons at arms reach as he decided to rest for a bit before he ate his food.

'I should also take a bath as well. But that can happen later.' Armaros thought to himself as he laid on the bed.

Timeskip

After he had taken some moments to rest yesterday, he ate his food and then took a bath, after which he slept in the guest house. And now it is time for him to see the village and make a report for the guild.

Of course, first he went to the house of the chief and tell him about it, after which the chief assigned him a guide after greeting him. And so he now went with the guide as he explored the village.

"All the houses here are made from stones huh." Armaros said as he looked at the many houses in the village.

"Yes. They offer great protection from bad weather whenever we experience it. Our village has expanded a lot, but due to the fact that not many people come to this area, we aren't as large as some would think." The guide said to him as he he smiled at the young lad walking with him.

"By the way, I didn't encounter any monsters on my way here and I'm surprised that the village is this pristine with monsters around." Armaros said as he looked at the houses and he couldn't find any damages to it.

"Oh that's because the monsters do not attack our village." The guide said to him which caused the boy to look at him in surprise.

"What do you mean they don't attack the village?" Armaros said in shock at hearing that.

"It's the truth. We do not know why they don't attack us, but it has allowed us to live peacefully and this has become a safe haven. Of course, there are still monsters, but they are confined to the forests and do not come out." The guide said to him as he waved at a villager as he kept on walking.

Armaros meanwhile looked at the man with a stunned silence as he processed the words that were said by the man. He immediately thought about the sword at the house of the chief, but he didn't think that a sword would be able to do that.

"We believe it to be a protection from the great hero, after all, we had established this village with his help and named it after him." The guide said with a smile on his face.

"Are you sure that it is the case?" Armaros asked the man as he got out of his thoughts.

"That is what we have believed for the past 2000 years. And as you can see, we are well protected. But I guess I should also show you own farm as well." The guide said with a smile as Armaros became curious.

"Alright then." Armaros said as he followed the man.

The man guided Armaros another part of the village and he realised that the town was much larger than he had thought it to be, especially since he had only seen it from the front. So he was really surprised to see a large field with many different plants being grown as he can see both fruits and vegetables while people were working on the field.

"This is where we get out vegetables, fruits and medicinal herbs. This has helped keep our village fed for centuries." The guide said to him as Armaros was surprised and impressed by all that he is seeing at the moment.

"This is impressive." Armaros said as he was certainly impressed by what he is seeing in front of him.

"Isn't it? We have been using this way for a long time and it has helped us greatly. Sometimes when we have more yields, we can either use it for a celebration or sell it. Now, let's go to the other farm." The guide said as he happily walked forward and beckoned Armaros to follow.

Armaros followed the guy to then find that there is also a farm for animals as he couldn't help but blink at the sight. He had heard the noises, but he thought that they would be scarce, but the various cattle in front of him are of a large number.

'I guess not being attacked by monsters helped them to develop themselves more.' Armaros thought to himself as he can see that the village is very self sustaining.

"What about the water?" Armaros asked as he suddenly thought about that.

"We have a well at the east side of the village, it has given us water for a long time now and we still use it. Because of that, we don't have much problems regarding water. In fact, as far as I know, there have only been a handful of times when our village would have trouble with water." The guide said with a proud smile on his face.

"I can see why you are able to stay here without help from the nearby towns. You already have everything you need here." Armaros said as he was amazed at the sight of this village.

"Yes of course. We are proud of the fact that we belong to this village. Sadly, not many from outside our village like to stay here. Though that doesn't mean that there aren't those who decided to stay, but they're scarce." The guide said to him as he articulated his words to the best of his ability.

"I see." Armaros said as he couldn't help but marvel at the fact that such a village existed in the world.

'I wonder why the clan doesn't have any idea about this village. Or perhaps it's because I never reached the place where that information is kept?' Armaros thought to himself at the possibility of it all.

But then he froze for a moment as his senses seemed to have detected something. He doesn't know what it is, but he can feel it in both body and mind, that it was something unpleasant. His guide was talking and saying more things about the village, but his mind was more focused on their strange feeling that he got, a feeling of wrongness that shouldn't exist.

It felt like something he shouldn't be feeling any time in his life, something that should never happen and that some part of the order of the world had changed. He doesn't know why he feels like this, or even why he had come to that conclusion, but he felt that way, and he didn't like it.

'Gods damn it.' Armaros thought to himself as he felt irrited at this strange feeling.
