Chapter 7 - Red dress

After breakfast, I went up to my room to get ready and go out. I have a lot of work to do today.

Me: Okay, I'll go then.

Leonard: "Where are you going? I'll follow you."

Me: No need, I have some things to take care of before the party tonight.

Vincent: "Daughter, there's no need to go out, call and they'll bring you whatever you want."

I know they're worried about my safety, but I have to go out.

Me: No, I have to go. I have other things to do.

Vincent: "Then the security guys will follow you."

Me: No need. I'm not afraid of anyone.

Vincent: "This way we'll be more at ease, because you don't want Leonard following you."

Me: Okay, whatever you say.

I don't want to argue with them now. I have nothing to hide, so it won't be a problem if the security guards follow me. We went outside and I noticed the journalists, I knew they would be here. I went to buy a dress first.

I looked at a lot of clothes, but I couldn't find anything that I would wear in the evening. I couldn't go to my designer because all the royals would choose something from his collection, and I needed a completely different dress, one that I wouldn't wear, but I always wanted to wear, and that's when I remembered my dream dress. I knew where I could find it. I immediately took my notebook out of my bag and started looking for the number. I found it and called her soon after.

Me: Hello, my friend.

Lisa: "Hello, I thought you wouldn't call me again. Congratulations on your freedom."

Me: Thanks, I'm not completely free yet, but everything will be finished by evening, and for that I need my dress.

Lisa: "Your dress has been ready for a long time and is waiting for you. Tell me where to send it."

Lisa and I have known each other for a long time. She made a dress for me, but I couldn't wear it because it was against royal rules.

Me: I will come and pick it up.

Lisa: "You'll have a lot to do today, I'll send you a dress home."

Me: Thank you very much, you are the best.

Since I've taken care of this, it's time to go somewhere I haven't been in a long time. I told the security guard the address where we were going.

This place hasn't changed at all. I opened the door and went inside. I knew that journalists were following me all this time. I didn't stay here long because I had to get ready for the evening.

In the evening, my family members went to the palace without me. Of course, my brother was against leaving me alone, but in the end he agreed. I had to go alone, because if I wanted to make an impact, I had to arrive when everyone was already gathered. When everyone left, I started getting ready. I put on light makeup, combed my hair, and most importantly, my dream dress fit me perfectly. Everything was perfect and I was ready to go. If I were in the royal family again, I would have to break a lot of rules, but now I don't care at all, because from today on I will be free and do whatever I want.

I checked social media. They were very happy that I didn't go to the engagement. I saw a lot of comments like "She didn't dare break the engagement," "It seems like she hasn't thought of a plan yet," and "She probably doesn't know what to do because she's so angry." I used to get angry at these comments, but now I laugh a lot.

The journalists were still waiting outside, so I asked the security to take the car into the garage so that no one would see my dress. Of course, they tried to take pictures when we left, but they didn't succeed. By the time I got to the palace, a lot of articles had already been written. Everyone knew where the car would go. There were a lot of people gathered near the palace, and with the help of the police and security, we were able to enter the palace.

The car stopped and my heart started beating very fast. I was nervous, but thinking about my mother gave me strength. If she were here now, she would have told me, "You can do anything, don't worry." She would have been right.

The security guard opened the door for me and I got out of the car. Immediately, the cameras started to beep and lights were flashing from all sides. I could hear people shouting, "Look over here." Everyone wanted to take a picture of me.

I continued walking and entered the palace. I could even find my way with my eyes closed, because I knew everything by heart. I immediately headed for the banquet room, where important events and meetings are held. One of the servants opened the door and I immediately entered. A stunned silence fell in the room and everyone was looking at me. After a while, they started talking to each other. I couldn't understand what they were talking about, but I knew that everyone was delighted with me.

All the royal family members were here, which meant I was late and broke another rule. I was surprised when they let me in wearing a red dress and high heels. My attire violated almost every royal rule.

I scanned the crowd, hoping to find my family members, and headed toward them. Normally, I would have gone to the royal family first and greeted them, but those rules no longer apply to me.

Leonard: "You look great, sister. The color red suits you very well. Wear it often from now on."

Me: Thank you, I'll do that.

Leonard: "So that was your plan?"

Me: This is a start, bro. You should get some popcorn.

It wasn't easy to accept this at first, but I think everything in life happens by fate. Just because I didn't become a princess doesn't mean I won't be happy. I'm sure my fate is preparing something good for me. I've had to go through a lot, but it's time for it all to end.

I need to talk to Nicholas and Natalie. I immediately started looking for them. Of course, they have a lot of work today and they didn't have time for me. I caught Natalie's eye at the door and headed towards her. When she saw me, she smiled.

Me: It must be hard for you to do all this.

Natalie: "You're right. You left, and I'm already very tired. I'm not complaining, but I miss you very much. Let's forget about it. How are you doing after all this? You made me very nervous when you disappeared so suddenly. I would have done the same if I were you, but you could have called me."

Me: I know, and I'm sorry. I wanted to call you, but I wanted to be alone.

Natalie: "I understand. Nicholas was also very upset. He and Michael had a fight."

Me: What are you saying? They shouldn't fight over me.

Natalie: "You know how precious you are to us and you didn't deserve all this. No one deserves this."

Me: You're really busy today and we'll talk about it later.

Natalie: "Okay, I'll tell Nicholas and we'll come see you later."

Me: I'm going to go congratulate Michael on his engagement.

Natalie: "Do you want me to come with you? I'll be by your side."

Me: Thanks for the offer, but it's not necessary.

Natalie: "Okay, whatever you say."

Michael was of course with his friends, and Sofia was not far from his side. I went straight to them. Michael noticed me but immediately looked away. I thought, "I'm sorry, but you have no choice, we need to talk."

Me: Hello everyone. How are you? I won't take up much of your time. I came to congratulate you and I want to talk to Michael.

Sofia: "Thanks, you can talk here, he has nothing to hide from me."

Me: Are you sure?

I laughed and an awkward silence fell, as no one knew what to say.

Me: Let's talk some other time. It's time for me to go. I wish you happiness. You shouldn't be where no one is happy to see you. If I hadn't come, you know what would have happened. I bid you a fond farewell and wish you a pleasant evening.

I was about to leave, but I heard what Sofia said and turned back.

Sofia: "I trust him, I know he won't hide anything from me. I'm not like you."

Me: Really? I wasn't going to do it, but everyone thinks I'm evil. I'll give you a new topic to gossip about. Michael, my wedding ring is in the safe, and tell Lucy and she'll give it back to you. I know how precious it is to your family. I would have returned it to you personally, but I didn't have time. I completely forgot, I know you don't have time, so I turned in the documents today with the petition and they told me that the decision on the annulment petition will be ready in a few weeks. I know you're in a hurry.

Sofia: "Wedding ring? Annulment? Michael, what does he say? What's going on?"

I caused chaos in the palace. To be honest, I wasn't going to say all this.
