Chapter 298 - Chapter 298: Taking a Step Back to Gain a Vast Horizon

In the end, Yamiru still lost.

The fearless aura was indeed impressive, but throughout the entire Dragon Ball series, no one ever won by sheer willpower alone, exploding with power out of nowhere and defeating a stronger opponent. The longer a battle drags on, the stronger the powerful fighter becomes, and the weaker the weaker fighter gets. No matter how indomitable Goku's will was, he was still defeated by vegeta Ozaru form after landing four or five Kaioken punches. There was no way Yamiru could avoid being crippled. Against the suffocatingly powerful Freeza, no matter how humiliated or angry Vegeta became, without the proper conditions, he simply couldn't transform into a Super Saiyan.

Yamiru's determination was even stronger than at the start of the battle, so his punch carried more momentum, but in reality, the strength of this punch was already weaker than the force he exerted when the fight began.

In mid-air, Goku clenched his fist, his expression turning serious.

He could sense Yamiru's resolve.

Although he hadn't broken through his mental barriers and still couldn't sense ki, Goku, as an outstanding Earth martial artist, was still capable of concentrating and releasing his internal energy in a focused burst.

Facing Yamiru's strike, Goku began to focus his own energy.

He had no intention of dodging.

...

Most people had no idea what was happening in the air. When Yamiru collided, the shockwave was so strong that even the small-bearded referee holding binoculars felt his eyes flash.

By the time everyone regained their senses, Goku, slightly out of breath, was descending from the sky, holding the unconscious Yamiru in his arms.

It was clear that Yamiru's legs were hanging limply, and the arm he had used to punch was steaming from the high heat, his skin reddened.

When the small-bearded referee declared the winner, Goku, as the champion, Tights climbed over the railing and onto the stage.

...

Goku didn't say anything, handing the battered Yamiru to Tights.

Tights took out a Senzu Bean, chewed it with a trace of sympathy, and then fed it to Yamiru, who barely managed to swallow. His severely injured legs and arms, as well as his exhausted body, healed instantly.

However, though his body healed, his spirit remained exhausted, and he continued to sleep in a deep unconscious state.

Yamiru was such a large figure, with a body density higher than that of an average person, so Tights couldn't move him.

Goku was about to help when Bardock, with blonde hair and blue eyes, flew over and slung Yamiru's unconscious arm over his shoulder, carrying him.

"He's a warrior worthy of respect," Bardock remarked.

The newly crowned champion, Goku, responded, "He's a martial artist."

"A martial artist," came the voice of the Turtle Hermit, walking over slowly.

Several authoritative figures praised the unconscious Yamiru. Bulma, Gine, and the other participants' families, including Krillin, Tien Shinhan, and Chi-Chi, gathered around.

A warrior? A martial artist? A martial artist? Tights gently stroked Yamiru's sleeping face and softly said, "He's just a person. An ordinary person. My husband."

Raditz, who was about to make a sarcastic comment, like "If this guy used the same power he used when he beat me up before, he wouldn't have lost so badly," was silenced by a cold glare from Bulma, who knew a bit about the Saiyan idiot next to her. Raditz, grumbling, held his tongue, thinking to himself, I'm doing this for my parents' sake!

...

The Martial Arts Tournament came to a smooth end, and it was nearing evening. The spectators and tourists slowly began to disperse.

The monks and staff of the Martial Arts Temple were cleaning up, dismantling the venue and distributing the prize money to the champion.

After receiving his prize money, Goku suggested treating everyone to a big feast.

With the 500,000 zeni prize money, and adding Puar, the total number of people in the group was 13. Logically, this should have been enough to have a decent meal, especially since Yamiru was still unconscious.

But this time, there were four Saiyans in the group!

In the manga, during the same time, Goku alone would have eaten up the prize money of the champion.

Although this Goku, compared to the one in the manga, was a bit less hungry due to lower consumption, four Saiyans eating their fill would easily exhaust the 500,000 zeni.

Regarding this matter, Bulma led everyone to the Papaya Island restaurant. With a grand wave of her hand, she declared, "Eat as much as you want, it's on me!"

Although Gine appeared gentle and refined, once she sat down at the table, she was as fierce as could be.

The four Saiyans ravaged the large dining table like a storm, with a dozen waiters specially assigned to their table. Even they were running around in a panic. As soon as they placed a dish down, before they could wipe their sweat, the plates were already empty. It wasn't just the waiters who were stunned; many of the guests at the table were also in shock, especially Krillin, Le Ping, and the others. Le Ping had thought he, as a desert bandit, was rough enough, but he never imagined that the Saiyan family would eat so wild!

Tights didn't have much of an appetite. She ate a little, then went off to take care of the sleeping Yamiru.

---

When Yamiru woke up, Tights was the only one by his side.

"You're awake?" Tights smiled.

"Have I been asleep for long?" Yamiru glanced out the window; the dusk was blood-red.

After taking the Senzu Bean, his body had already fully recovered, and now that he was mentally alert again, he felt fine. He sat up from the sofa and looked around the room. When he concentrated, his five senses were sharper than an ordinary person's. His ears twitched, and he sniffed the air. The scent of food seemed to be coming from a restaurant's lounge.

Tights replied, "Not long. Goku and the others haven't finished eating yet."

It was easy to guess that, with Yamiru's strength, after recovering, it was impossible for him to stay unconscious for too long.

"I see." Yamiru nodded.

When he saw that his body was fully restored, he knew that Tights must have given him a Senzu Bean.

Because of the Senzu Bean, Yamiru wasn't feeling hungry at all.

While chatting leisurely with Tights, she glanced at him sideways. "So, you must be feeling a bit relieved now that you lost to Goku in the Martial Arts Tournament, right?"

"Why do you say that?" Yamiru was puzzled.

"I should be the one who understands you best in this world, right?" Tights raised an eyebrow. "Some of your subtle emotions, maybe even you yourself haven't noticed them, but I won't miss them." She pointed to her own eyes, then to Yamiru's, signaling, I'm watching you. "It seems like, subconsciously, you've always had some inexplicable feelings towards Goku. I had a sense of it when Goku first landed on Earth."

Yamiru didn't respond. Was it a relief to lose to Goku in the Martial Arts Tournament?

He had to admit, sometimes, as a transmigrator, there was a subconscious burden, the feeling that he couldn't fall behind the "natives".

Now that he had been overtaken and defeated by Goku, it was a done deal, and indeed… it felt much more relieving.

Yamiru's thoughts were clear now.

He had fully accepted this version of himself and was ready to move forward.

He felt a sense of tranquility, as if taking a step back had opened up a vast horizon.

Tights smiled faintly. "So, behind that poster in the South City Cottage, the Super Saiyan you drew wasn't actually Uncle Bardock, but Goku, wasn't it?"
