Chapter 125 - Now What? - Chapter 16

"Bloodlust—!" she thought to herself before noticing the area where Dante landed had smaller stalactites laying around.

"Maybe I could…"

Pointing her wand at the formations, vines burst from the ground once more and grappled themselves onto two of the rocks, creating a line of wine to act as a tripwire.

"Vinea Flagellum!"

The lizardman rushed frantically at Dante before realizing the vine and got caught in its sharp thorns as it began to tilt over, tripping over the vine in the process. Dante spotted the opportunity and rushed forward once more before igniting his sword once more, bringing his sword above his head, before slashing downward in one swift motion. Cutting down the monster and watching as its body exploded into a fiery ash. Dropping its materia onto the ground.

Iris ran up to Dante as he dusted himself off.

"We…we did it!"

"Yeah, we did, your spells really helped!"

"No way, you fought against that monster so effortlessly…I didn't know you could move around like that, even without a boost…!"

"Hehe, it's just my masters training at work. Gotta make her proud."

"Oh…I see. Well, with this materia…"

She went to pick up the crystal that shined a different color than the rest, it had an amber-like glow to it. She inspected it closely before excitedly looking back at Dante.

"It's a gold materia! Two more to go!" she exclaimed as she put her hand out for what seemed to be a high five. Dante tilted his head in confusion at the motion before Iris realized what she was doing. She quickly put her hand down and turned her head in embarrassment. Dante smirked as he began to walk back to the group.

"Let's get back with the others."

"R-right."

The two began to head back to the group who'd cleaned up around the lake, grabbing whatever materia they could. Nolan scrapped up the pieces he could find within the water as Jarrett got healing from Azuri.

"Stand still."

"D-don't tell me what to do…"

She healed him and looked over to see Dante and Iris approaching, holding up the golden materia they'd received.

"You guys did it, great work."

"Of course we did, without Iris, I'd probably be a goner."

"T-that's not true, with you–"

Suddenly, a rumbling was heard once more. The room began to shake rapidly as the group lost their balance once more from the tremors. This time, it was more violent and closer than the last. Dante looked around frantically as he pulled his sword out once more to prepare himself once more.
