Chapter 5 - The Gods

As Hagan lay on the cold stone, the world came to a halt all around him as he stared at the dragons corpse.

'That thing… better be dead.'

The absurdity of everything that had happpened in the last few hours was difficult to process in Hagan's young mind. After all, mere hours ago his mother was dead in him arms, and mere moments ago he was fighting a dragon that had mangled his body with a single strike from its hand. And to top it off, he was in a strange place undergoing a "Trial" and now, time was stopped.

As his feelings continued to dull, the only thing running through his mind was his mother.

Minutes passed and nothing, nothing at all happened.

"Interesting…"

"Yes. Very."

"It is. What should we do?"

"I guess we just wait."

Hagan tried to move but couldn't. The three strange voices he heard seemed to encompass everything around him, as if there was no definite direction they came from.

The mysterious voices, noticing the look in his eyes change, gasped.

'Wh- whose there? Show yourself. Wait… I cant talk?'

Hagan began to panic internally, he pupils darted left and righ, up and down, looking for the source of the voices.

One of the voices, the deepest of the three, cleared his throat.

"Greetings, boy. I am sorry… for the scare. I… we were not aware you were capable of perceiving us."

Hagan continued to panic, if time wasn't frozen, his heart would be beating at astonishing, and presumably life threatening, rates.

'Where am I? Who are you?'

"Calm down, boy. I'll tell you everything, just wait."

The voice seemed to be just as confused as Hagan was, for some reason.

"For starters, I am what you would call a 'God', along with the other voices you heard."

"Greetings."

This ones was the softest of the three but sounded the most… potent.

"I'm very curious about you."

The third voice seemed to be a little deranged. Or just unsure, it was hard to tell accurately.

'A- a god!? How? I thought gods weren't real, at least that's what I've been told. Is that how you can tell what I'm saying? Are you reading my mind?'

"Yes. We are real and we cam read your mind. But enough of that, we both have questions. I will allow you to ask first."

Hagan thought for a second, he knew they could read his mind but he was unsure of what question to ask.

'Where am I?'

"You are in the New Plain. Where you were before, Earth, was on the 4th Plain.

This new one, was created as a sanctuary of sorts. An escape, a refuge. I am the overseer, or god, of the 1st Plain.

Now, it is my turn for a question.

Why do you have no name?"

Hagan was stunned by the fact he met gods and that he was no longer on Earth. But somehow, he was more perplexed by the question.

'A name? I- I do have a name. It's Hagan.'

The voice was silent for a few seconds, as if confused by the answer.

"That… is not true. We are gods, we are omniscient. Yet we are not. Because you know things we do not. You are an anomaly."
