Chapter 29 - 21 Pig Blood Incident

If you're in trouble, go to the police; if there's no police, then you can only turn to the higher-level People's soldiers. With the help of two Kapa Soldiers, the despairing No. 0 brought the pig back to the research center.

Colonel Barton and others had not returned yet, and the Kapa Military District urgently dispatched a doctor who was a comprehensive medical specialist with expertise in neurology, oncology, and obstetrics and gynecology. After half a day's examination, the doctor could only grimly pronounce two words: "Swine fever."

No. 0 hesitated for a long time before asking another question, "Prescribe the right medicine, you have to save it!"

After a whole day of emergency treatment, the pig was saved, but... when put on the scale, the active sow had actually lost a full twenty kilograms in the last few days.

After the doctor had left, Little Eight grumbled, "I've seen fails, but never one as bad as you. Even pig-farming hits swine fever, a kilogram at 10 Military Merit Points, you'll be deducted 200 Military Merit. Now it's official, you're truly a 'zero'."

Imagining No. 0 could possibly be deducted Military Merit, Little Eight almost vomited in distress, but Little Eight is Little Eight after all, almost a God-like existence in this Prehistoric Space, "Forget it, I have at least three ways to help you solve this problem. Anyway, with only two months left, we can't expect this litter to produce piglets, just getting the weight back is enough. Method one, feed the pig fermentable powder, method two, is to castrate the pig, and method three is to inject hormones."

"I choose none of them," No. 0 didn't echo in agreement, but directly negated what Little Eight said with rising enthusiasm, "The doctor is wrong, this is not swine fever."

"No. 0, if you don't follow my instructions, don't expect me to intervene in your affairs again," Little Eight was also upset, did she need to rack her brain for a low-class soldier who didn't appreciate her efforts? From the Dinosaur Forest onward, this lowly soldier who always opposed her, never took her words to heart.

The strictly sanitized culture room, the reasonable exercise arrangements, if it were an epidemic, it would be infectious. According to the shared information from NPC Maggie, there's the most basic introduction to swine fever. The rest of the pigs were still leaping and bounding around. No. 0 walked into the culture room, moving back and forth among the pigs, carefully comparing the differences among them.

The sick sow was lying in the corner. From the surface, it looked completely the same as its kind. The previous doctor's diagnosis that it had contracted swine fever was based on some suspicious red spots appearing on its body.

Red spots? Just as No. 0 was about to touch them with her hands, there was a knock on the door,

"No. 0," the voice of the military document, "did you not hear the emergency evacuation signal?"

No. 0 ignored the military document's words, her eyes stopped moving, staring at those red spots.

Red spots again? She regretted not carefully examining Bosha's symptoms when leaving the rebel camp.

"Your ears," the military document kicked open the door of the lab, startling the sow awake.

It was the first time No. 0 looked at an animal's eyes from such a close distance. Unlike human eyes, an animal's gaze is much simpler. No. 0 didn't even need to use Reconnaissance Skill to clearly see the emotions in the sow's eyes.

Pain and desperation. Animals are actually better at expressing emotions than humans, although the previous doctor had repeatedly assured that he had injected antibiotics into the sow, and in a few days, it would recover its health.

The military document walked into the room, just to see No. 0, the farmer soldier, staring blankly at the pig, ignoring his words.

"Look at you, O number, don't think you're something special just because you did some typing for me for a few days, the rebel army is at the doorstep now, don't delay the evacuation," the military document didn't care that the pigs in the culture room were startled and running all over, and was about to drag No. 0 away.

The sow lying in the sanitation chamber suddenly stood up, stretched its front hooves, snorted heavily through its snout, and charged towards the military document.

As mentioned before, the military scribe was merely 1.5 meters tall, an egg struck squarely by a rock in comparison to this pampered sow, 1 meter wide and weighing nearly 300 kilograms.

The cry of distress resounded, the military scribe nearly suffocated under the heavy weight. Fortunately, the sow had just recovered from a severe illness, so her colliding strength waned midway, and at most a few of the scribe's abdominal bones were broken, allowing him to lament a few times.

Number 0 held back a laugh, just thinking of coaxing the sow away when the military scribe let out an even more agonizing scream than before.

"Quick, Number 0, pull the pig off, my stomach, my stomach! What the hell is this, it's so itchy—no, it's painful. Damn it all!" The military scribe felt an itch first at the location of his abdomen, followed by a stinging pain that grew increasingly intense, until finally it was so painful that both the sow and the military scribe started rolling on the ground in agony. And what was most strange was that, no matter how Number 0 pulled, or how the military scribe struggled, they could not be separated from the show pig.

The two, human and sow, were like conjoined twins, with the human's abdomen pressed closely against the pig's. On the belly of the sow, at the spot of the red dots, the smooth abdominal skin began to show patches of redness that expanded larger and larger, starting the size of mosquito bites, then to the size of flower buds, eventually blooming like plum blossoms.

The military scribe also started to exhibit convulsions and foaming at the mouth, just like the sow had that morning.

"Doctor," Number 0 hurriedly dialed the city phone, trying to get a doctor to come quickly. Could it really be swine fever? The call got through, and the operator told Number 0 that it was an emergency and could not guarantee to get through to the medical center's doctor.

"Little Eight," Number 0 had no choice but to ask Little Eight for help. Little Eight did not respond to her. Then Number 0 remembered they had just fought a quarrel.

"I'll call for help," Number 0 had to look for help outside, but her steps hadn't taken her far before she stopped.

The show pig's belly swelled more and more, within the round belly, something sharp seemed to be about to break through the flesh.

Seeing such a scene, the military scribe was on the verge of passing out, pleading, "Number 0, save me, please save me."

The boning knife was flipped out by Number 0, who took a deep breath, and forcefully stabbed at the pig's abdomen. However, the soft pork belly was as hard as reinforced concrete, utterly unyielding; when the knife went in, it just broke another notch, and with a slight deviation, it grazed the military scribe's own abdomen.

Normally, swearing would have been unavoidable, but the military scribe now was weeping blood, snot, and tears profusely. The stab only made him groan a few extra times.

The first knife was misjudged, and Number 0's second knife quickly followed suit. The military scribe felt the knife wind coming straight for his belly and was about to curse out loud, "Are you the pig or am I?"

With a "swoosh," the knife indeed found its target.

Human and sow were finally separated. The military scribe never got to complete his curse because he had already fainted.

Number 0's knife had gouged a large chunk of flesh from his belly. Unable to cut through the tough pig belly, Number 0 had no choice but to turn the knife on the scribe. After all, flesh is flesh, be it pork or human; as long as it could be cut, it was good flesh.

By the time people from the medical center arrived, our poor military scribe was lying on a stretcher. Aside from a pale complexion, everything else seemed normal—at least when he woke up, he still had the strength to complain to anyone who would listen. From Number 0's refusal to obey military orders and insubordination, to her abusing pigs and murdering, he recounted all the grievances.

After the military scribe was sent to the hospital, Number 0 accompanied the Patrol Army personnel back to the research center, and the scene they found at the center was so shocking that even the doctors, accustomed to bloody scenes, were taken aback.
