Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 6 : Humility Lessons

Shen Guang's Response (muffled, face in the dirt): "I *hate* you."

Lady Yin's Laugh: "You'll learn."

------------------

Shen Guang sat on the scorched earth, his body still trembling from the battle. His right arm—where the first lightning rune had been carved—throbbed with residual energy, the skin crackling faintly with violet sparks.

The corpse of the Lightning-Fang Lynx lay nearby, its fur still smoking from the backlash of its own power.

Lady Yin loomed over him, arms crossed, her crimson lips curled in amusement. "Well? What did you learn, little Shen?"

Shen Guang exhaled sharply, flexing his injured hand. "The lynx's lightning… I *stole* it."

His golden eyes flickered with realization. "When it struck me, the rune in my bones absorbed the energy—just for a moment—and then I pushed it back into the beast at the same point of contact."

He raised his palm, where the lynx's fangs had grazed him. "It wasn't my strength that killed it. It was *its own*."

A slow, approving smirk spread across Lady Yin's face. "Finally, you understand ." She crouched beside him, tapping the glowing rune on his arm.

"The Violet Lightning Bone-Carving Sutra isn't just about enduring lightning—it's about commanding it."

- Sky Thunder vs. Beast Lightning:

- "The heavens' tribulation lightning is wild, untamed—it destroys first, asks questions never," she said. "But the lightning of beasts? Pathetic in comparison. A mere spark next to a storm." Provides that it is not of a cultivator or beast that has reached Dou Zong.

- The sutra allowed him to briefly hijack such weaker lightning, using his bones as a conduit .

"That rune is a circuit," she explained. "It catches foreign lightning, holds it for a heartbeat, then amplifies it back out."

- Against lightning-attribute cultivators or beasts, this made you a natural counter.

"Don't get cocky," she warned. "A 2nd-tier beast's lightning is child's play. Try this on a Dou Zong's thunder palm , and you'll be a charred stain."

"So… I'm a lightning thief now?" Shen Guang muttered, staring at his palm.

Lady Yin's Mocking Laugh: "A thief? No. You're a lightning bandit. You don't just steal—you return it with interest."

She flicked his forehead. "But remember—this only works if you're strong enough to survive the initial strike.

Right now, you'd vaporize trying to redirect a real thunder tribulation."

Lady Yin's grip tightened around Shen Guang's collar as she soared through the storm-wracked skies of the Purple Lightning Valley.

The wind howled in his ears, but his mind was buzzing with newfound confidence.

Shen Guang (grinning): "A 3rd-tier beast? With the Violet Lightning Bone-Carving Sutra, I'll crush it like a—"

Lady Yin (interrupting): "Shut up and fight."

With that, she hurled him toward the mouth of a jagged cave, its depths pulsing with an ominous violet glow.

Shen Guang landed in a roll, his body humming with the energy of his newly carved rune. He smirked, cracking his knuckles.

"Easy. Just like the lynx."

Then—the cave trembled.

A low, guttural growl reverberated through the stone, shaking pebbles loose from the ceiling. The air grew thick with the scent of ozone and raw power.

Shen Guang's smirk faltered.

Before he could react, a monstrous shape exploded from the darkness—a Stormclaw Bear , its massive form wreathed in crackling lightning, its eyes burning with primal fury.

- Size: Twice as tall as Shen Guang, muscles coiled like steel cables.

- Speed: Despite its bulk, it moved like a thunderbolt .

- Intent: It didn't hunt. It annihilated.

Shen Guang's Mistake: He charged, just as he had with the lynx, his fist blazing with stolen lightning.

The Bear's Response: It swiped.

CRACK.

The moment his punch met its claw, **reality shattered.**

- Force:The impact sent him flying backward, bones rattling, his arm screaming in protest.

- Pain:His lightning rune flared violently, but it was overwhelmed—like a candle trying to swallow a wildfire.

- Realization: This wasn't a 2nd-tier lynx. This was a 3rd-tier apex predator.

Shen Guang (mid-air, internally):"Oh. I'm going to die."

He slammed into the rocks, his vision swimming, blood trickling from his nose. The Stormclaw Bear roared, the sound shaking the earth as it lumbered toward him.

Lady Yin (from a safe distance, sipping tea): "Hm. That lasted exactly as long as I expected."

Shen Guang didn't respond. He ran.

- Strategy: None.

- Dignity: Gone.

- Survival Instinct: Fully engaged.

The bear chased , each step cracking the ground. Lightning arced from its claws, searing the air where Shen Guang had been half a second prior.

Shen Guang (panting, scrambling over rocks): "LADY YIN! A LITTLE HELP?!"

Lady Yin (yawning):"Help? Oh, you mean like not throwing you into a death trap? Where's the fun in that?"

Somehow—miraculously—Shen Guang made it back to the cave entrance, collapsing at Lady Yin's feet, his body a patchwork of bruises and burns.

Lady Yin (looking down at him): "So. Thoughts?"

Shen Guang (wheezing): "I… may have… overestimated myself."

Lady Yin's Boot (lightly tapping his ribs): "Good. Arrogance gets you killed. Humility keeps you alive long enough to get stronger."

She crouched, her smirk softening just a fraction. "The sutra isn't a shortcut. It's a weapon—one you're still too weak to wield properly."

Shen Guang (groaning): "…Can I at least heal before the next 'lesson'?"

Lady Yin (standing): "No. Get up. We're finding you a 2nd-tier beast. Again. And this time—don't get cocky."

For 60 straight days, Shen Guang's life followed a brutal, agonizing cycle:

1. Fight a Beast → Get mauled → Learn → Kill it → Grill it for Lady Yin.

2. Get covered in a paste of crushed beast cores and pond water → Scream as lightning cooked him alive.

3. Get pranked by Lady Yin → Prank her back → Get obliterated by thunder as punishment .

At first, Shen Guang charged into battle like an overconfident bull , relying solely on his lightning rune.

- Result: He got flattened, clawed, bitten, and tossed around like a ragdoll.

- Lesson Learned: "Maybe running straight at giant monsters isn't smart."

After 20 near-death experiences, he adapted.

- New Strategy:

- Ambush tactics (striking from behind while beasts slept).

- Baiting them into lightning-charged terrain (letting the environment do the work).

- Psychological warfare (throwing rocks to distract them, then attacking their weak spots).

"Wow. You've gone from 'helpless puppy' to 'slightly cunning rodent.' Progress!" , Lady yin would comment in amusement.

Since Lady Yin refused to let him eat anything but the beasts he killed , Shen Guang became an expert survivalist chef.

- Specialties:

- Lightning-Grilled Thunderhoof Stag (medium-rare, with a side of charred pride).

- Crispy Stormclaw Bear Ribs(marinated in pain and regret).

- Void Python Skewers (so tough even lightning couldn't fully tenderize them).

Lady Yin's Review (while lounging):

"Hmm. Needs more salt. Also, your knife skills are pathetic ."

Shen Guang (muttering): "I'll stab you with a knife next time."

Lady Yin (grinning): "Try it. I'll turn you into a kebab."

Every night, Lady Yin would:

—Crush the beast cores into a fine powder.

—Mix it with the Pond of Twin Oblivion's

water, creating a sizzling, violet paste.

—Slather it all over Shen Guang's body like a sadistic masseuse.

Effects:

- The paste forced his bones to absorb lightning faster.

- It itched like hell , but scratching was forbidden ("Discipline, brat!").

- His skin cracked and regrew, leaving him looking like a charred, twitching mummy.

"This is torture! Even the Huang Clan wouldn't do this!" Shen Guang complained!

Lady Yin's Response:

"That's why they're losing."

One day, after a particularly brutal training session, Shen Guang saw his chance.

- Lady Yin was napping on her fancy floating chair by the pond.

- Shen Guang , covered in soot and bruises, crept up behind her .

- With a mighty shove , he sent her splashing into the water .

Lady Yin (emerging, dripping wet, eyes glowing with murder):

"Oh? *Good, good*! This little bastard has grown *wings*! Plotting against his master now, is he?"

Shen Guang (backing away): "Uh. It was an accident?"

Lady Yin's Revenge:

- She grabbed him by the ankle .

- Hurl him outside the cave .

- Summoned 18 consecutive thunderbolts to strike him mid-air.

"WORTH IIIIIII—" **BOOM.** Shen Guang screamed.

(He was unconscious before he hit the ground.)

After two months of hell :

- Lightning Resistance: He could now stand under a storm without crying (much).

- Rune Progression: His first bone rune had 5 branches —making him a 5-Star Dou Zhe .

- Combat IQ: He could now outmaneuver beasts instead of just tanking hits.

Lady Yin's Final Verdict:

"You're still garbage… but now you're *useful* garbage."

Shen Guang's Response (face-down in the dirt):

"…Thanks… I guess."

" Now that you are somewhat useful garbage it means that you have some strength, so to put this strength in use ,you have to learn some physical skills otherwise all you can do is to fight someone bare handed . " Said lady yin.

" You were not able to fight those beast because you didn't have any physical skills, so let's search your clan treasury and see if there is something that suits you " . Explained Lady Yin.

" Yes , there should be something that suits me , I also felt adequate when facing those beasts " said Shen Guang.

Shen Guang searched the treasury for 4 days before finding some suitable skills.

" It is very difficult to manually search the treasury as it is extremely vast but what can I do if I use my soul, it would just give the ghostfire poison a chance to corrupt it." Sighed Shen Guang .

He took the 6 scrolls out of the ring and placed them infront of Lady Yin.

" I took these 6 skills out of ring because they are somewhat complementary to each other and I think these would enhance each other performance" explained Shen Guang.

" They indeed are somewhat complementary but are you sure you can cultivate six skills at the same time ?" Asked lady yin .

" I can atleast try , shouldn't I ? " Said Sheng Guang.

" Yes you should " mused lady yin.

" I am going to have so much fun while training you these " said Lady Yin with sadistic smile .

"Shen Guang shuddered ".
