Chapter 26 - 26 Decisions are hard

Two days had passed since Jotaro had asked the Kamo head to hire someone to investigate Yuta. Sure enough, early in the morning, a middle-aged man arrived at the kamo clan's headquarters. (A/N: I made a small change to the past chapter)

knock knock

A moment later a servant knocked on Jotaro's door, asking for his presence to a large office room. Inside, the hired detective was waiting got him,

Once he saw Jotaro he bowing respectfully before taking a seat. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mister Kujo."

The man had a short mustache and long hair, dressed in formal clothing. He carried a stack of documents in his hands, his posture was professional.

"Skip the formalities. Did you find what I asked for?" Jotaro went straight to the point, his expression neutral.

"Of course," the detective nodded. "We came across several individuals with that name, but this one matches your description the closest." He placed a thick folder on top of the desk, spreading out several papers.

"Yuta Okkotsu seven years old," The paper showed a photo of a small child being held by his mother, with short black hair and a timid yet cute expression he looked like a normal child, maybe a little thinner then a normal kid his age but not to an extreme.

Jotaro's brows furrowed. 'Seven years old…?' If he remembered correctly, the accident with Rika happened when Yuta was around ten. He had expected Yuta to be around that age by now, maybe even older, but the news meant there were still several years before that fateful event.

"Born on March 7th, 2001. The child has shown signs of being a sorcerer, despite his closest relatives, his parents, not possessing any cursed energy." The man spoke with confidence.

"Did you make sure not to interfere with his life?" Jotaro asked, keeping his thoughtful expression. He needed to be certain that Yuta's trajectory hadn't been altered yet, Not that the future wasn't already changed… his presence alone had already flipped the story on its head... the stone mask and others were just the cherry on the cake.

"Of course. I swear on my life! No one noticed our presence." The detective's voice was firm so Jotaro trusted his words. Seeing Jotaro's subtle nod to continue, the man resumed his report.

"As I mentioned, his immediate family does not possess any sorcerer traits. However, that's not all there is to it. Surprisingly, his bloodline has distant ties to the Gojo Clan, making him a distant relative of the clan's current prodigy, Satoru Gojo."

Jotaro wasn't surprised. That detail had been mentioned in the original story. Still, having direct confirmation was useful, at least some things stayed the same.

"Here is his family tree, along with his closest relatives." The detective slid another document across the desk before continuing. "As for someone with the name Rika… unfortunately, there is no one by that name directly related to the Okkotsu family. However, there are a few individuals that caught our attention. The closest match fitting your description is Rika Orimoto, a girl the same age as Yuta, the two have yet to meet."

After looking at the next picture Jotaro closed his eyes, 'Rika Orimoto…' That was the one... the poor girl that will turn intro a cursed spirit.

"If you wish, I can dig deeper," the detective, seeing Jotaor's interest in the name, offered to keep working.

"No, this is enough for now." Jotaro declined flatly. He had already received the answer he was looking for.

"Then I should take my leave now, have a nice day mister Jotaro." The man bowed once more before excusing himself, quietly closing the door behind him.

Silence filled the room.

A short moment later, Jotaro let out a quiet sigh. 'So, the accident is still far off… too early for me to do anything.' Even so, a headache came as a troubling and one question bothered Jotaro's mind, should he save Rika… or let her die for the sake of Yuta's growth?

It wasn't an easy decision.

If he stood by and did nothing, who was to say that Rika's soul would be able to find peace once Yuta entered Jujutsu High?

If his memory served him right, Yuta and Rika only truly let go of each other when fighting Suguru Geto…

But then again, Jotaro had already altered events. Unlike the original, Suguru had now returned to Jujutsu High and, so far, showed no signs of taking the path he originally did.

That alone changed everything, Sure, the most logical answer was to let fate take the wheel and decide if she will perish or not, that way Yuta will be just as strong as his anime version in the future.

But then again, Jotaro felt that blindly following some nonexistent storyline would only lead to more regrets in the future. Things were already different and even the stars had confirmed it.

"What a pain…" Jotaro muttered, shaking his head.

'There are still a few more years left for me to decide.' He pushed the thought to the back of his mind. But deep down, he had already made his decision.

He turned toward the window, his gaze fixed on the bright sky, he felt that since coming here he had matured several years in just a few months.

"What do you think?" In the empty room, Jotaro suddenly spoke out, asking a invisible force.

Hearing his question, the familiar purple figure materialized beside him, floating in the air. Star Platinum met his gaze with the same normal expression as always.

A second later, the stand shrugged its shoulders as if responding to his master. But in truth, Star Platinum was merely reflecting Jotaro's own thoughts on the subject.

Sigh

Jotaro let out a long sigh, feeling a bit down. Setting aside his uncertain influence over the future, he decided to focus on the present, on getting stronger. His hand-to-hand combat as well as his curse energy manipulation had improved significantly lately.

And although he hadn't had the chance to test the Falling Blossom Emotion technique and Simple Domain in real combat, he was confident that his mastery over them had reached an decent level. Maybe this year, he'd finally be able to use them properly.

That left only a few techniques Jotaro wanted to learn: Domain Expansion and Reverse Cursed Technique.

First, Domain Expansion. If his theories were correct, and Star Platinum functioned as a Cursed Technique in this world, then his Domain Expansion would naturally be the ability to stop time, talk about a broken ability. The details were still uncertain, and it was just a hunch for now, but it was the best lead he had.

As for Reverse Cursed Technique… Jotaro frowned, crossing his arms. It was not as easy as reading a book and understanding it, there was the need to see it in practice to understand it better and he had already asked around for a sorcerer who could teach him, but with most of the Kamo clan's members wiped out, there wasn't a single rct user left in the clan.

What about finding one from the outside? Damn near impossible.

'That leaves me with only a few choices.' His gaze shifted to his mobile phone. After a brief pause, he reached for it, fingers dialing the number of the old man.

A moment later, his lips parted as he made his request.

"I need you to get me someone's phone number."
