Vernon loved and valued his family. So him saying those words was really a very big thing.
"Okay, I am leaving now. If you need something, call me," Vernon said and walked towards the door.
Just as he reached the door, Helena called him, "Vernon."
"Hmm?" He turned around and asked her.
"Can you help me call my makeup artist?" She asked with a smile.
"Okay." Vernon agreed immediately and left the room.
As soon as he was out of the room, Helena stopped smiling.
She frowned. Her mind raced as she thought about Vernon's earlier words and questions and his behavior.
Everything felt strange. Too strange for his usual behavior.
That wasn't how the normal Vernon behaved. Those weren't the sort of doubts the normal Vernon would raise.
The makeup artist knocked on the door, "Second Madam?"
"Come in."
She entered the room with a polite smile.
She then turned her head to observe the entire room. There was no one in the room except for Helena.
