Ruediger's answer shocked both Madeline and Lariette. He remained calm after admitting he had personally warned Felicia about Matthew Alvord targeting her.
Lariette blinked, inadvertently wondering when Ruediger talked to Felicia about the Alvords. At the same time, awe flooded her heart because this meant he tried to be a few steps ahead of those scums.

"Maddie," Ruediger spoke after a brief silence, his eyes glancing at Lariette before falling on the phone in his hand, "It's just one of the measures I took after Vincent suddenly wanted to meet me."
"...he did what? That bastard wanted to meet you? For what?"
Surprised by Ruediger's claim, Madeline unconsciously raised her voice. Each of her words, including the incredulity, loudly rang in the living room.
