Chapter 179 - Chapter 179: The Six Kings of Dorne

The bedroom in the temporary residence in Tyrosh wasn't large enough. Four women squeezed into the room, but the bed didn't collapse because bricks were placed under it. While the bed didn't break, there was no space left for Wright, so he had to set up a bed in the study, planning to stay there long-term without any interruptions for a good sleep.

The next day, after Wright got up and washed up, he sat at the desk in front of architectural blueprints for his fortress, making modifications. The details didn't need to be too intricate, just enough to give the design to the professional craftsmen.

"Is this our house? Why does it look so scary?" Nymeria hugged Wright from behind, pointing at the blueprints on the desk.

Tyene entered the study and hugged Wright from the other side, looking at the desk as well. "Wow, it's so scary! Why is there such a big eye on top of our house?"

The castle in the blueprints had a standard base, with a tall tower standing near the cliff edge, shaped like a torch. The most unique part was the top, which split into two high, sharp spires with an eyeball made of swirling magic energy between them. Even in a black-and-white sketch, the large pupil and the magic energy surrounding it were enough to make anyone feel nervous, as though a deity were watching over them.

"This is called the Eye of Wright!" Wright began to explain. "The original lighthouse in Tyrosh was destroyed by Odahviing. This tower in the castle will function as a lighthouse. I've redirected the funds for the lighthouse into this project. Normally, we'll light the fire at the top between the spires for navigation. In case of an emergency, I can activate the Eye of Wright, which will allow me to overlook all of Tyrosh and the surrounding seas! Perfect!"

Wright was very satisfied with his design. However, the two women were not fond of it at all. Tyene poked Wright's chest with her finger and said:

"Looking at your design, this eye is at least twenty or thirty meters wide. How are you going to activate such a large magic with your magicka?"

"Heh, it's fake. Just an illusion!" Wright replied, then took out another blueprint. "You see, it's actually a transformation-type detection magic. I've turned it into a fixed magic circle and connected it with wires made from Valyrian steel to my study. This way, I can activate it from afar. The actual effect of this magic is no bigger than my fist. I've added an illusion-type formation at the top of the tower, combined with a magnifying lens I bought from Volantis. It'll appear to be several tens of meters wide, but if you get close and touch the eyeball, you'll realize it's just an illusion."

Nymeria poked Wright on the head. "It's just a tiny magic, yet you made it so flashy and scary. Is that really necessary?"

"Of course it is! This is my domain as Wright the Archmage! It has to be imposing! Dare to cause trouble? A thirty-meter-wide eyeball will be watching you!"

Nymeria sighed, "I can't be bothered. You can do whatever you want, but the castle downstairs must not be messed with. That's where we'll live."

"Of course, I've been diligently studying magic circles lately. Inside, I'll use Valyrian steel to lay out many fixed defense spells. It won't stop something as big as Odahviing, but it can block fire and storms no problem. I've also left a lot of space so that as my magic improves, I can lay down stronger magic circles."

Wright then thought about the twin girls from yesterday and asked Nymeria, "Have you all been sleeping together these past few nights?"

Nymeria replied, "What else can we do? If you bring the little rose here, we can sleep together, five of us."

"Heh! That's not what I meant. I'm asking, if you four have taken up the bed, where do I sleep?"

After their travels through Essos, Nymeria and Tyene had regained their fair skin. Wright now enjoyed pinching their faces, holding each of their cheeks in his hands.

Nymeria said, "These two are both my personal guards and my lovers. Or, if you want, you can add another bed to the bedroom?"

Wright replied, "Or in the study. If they sleep in the study, I'll sleep in the bedroom. If I sleep in the study, they can come into the bedroom to join you at night."

Nymeria leaned over and whispered in Wright's ear, "Why bother? When you're lonely, just let the twin girls keep you company."

Speaking of the twins, Wright remembered the skull flag he saw yesterday and asked Nymeria, "The people your father sent you, after I saw them yesterday, I feel like they're not your average knights or nobles. What are their identities?"

The two women sat down, and Tyene began peeling fruit nearby.

Nymeria: "Let's start with the house of Arron Qorgyle, the young man with three black scorpions on his cloak. My father, Oberyn, was adopted by the old Count Qorgyle when he was young and grew up in Sandstone, so they naturally have a close relationship."

Wright: "Ah, so it's the family of an adoptive father. I never knew about this. The Qorgyle emblem is three black scorpions, no wonder your father has always been skilled with poison, he must have been taught from a young age."

Nymeria: "That's just a coincidence! Also, did you know that before Queen Nymeria and the Martell united Dorne, Dorne had six kings?"

During this period, Nymeria caught up on some history she never really cared about before, and Wright was curious, "The records in the Citadel are never complete, you know. The Reach and Dorne have been at war for years, and even the records are mostly biased against Dorne. It's all just slander."

Nymeria: "After the queen defeated the six kings, she put golden shackles on them and sent them to the Wall to become Night's Watchmen. One of the kings' bloodlines was cut off, but the descendants of the other five swore allegiance to the Martell's, and this has been passed down ever since."

She then took a bite of the apple that Tyene had handed her.

"The twin girls come from House Fowler of Skyreach. One of the six kings of Dorne: the King of Stone and Sky, Garrison Fowler, whose descendants are also known as the Blind King, because he went blind in his old age. If not for that, the Martell's victory wouldn't have come so easily."

Wright: "A distinguished House!"

Nymeria: "My captain of the guard, the oldest among them, Ser Ulwyck Uller of Hekkholt. His niece, the current lord's daughter, is my father's lover. Their house isn't of royal blood, but they occupy the city of the king whose bloodline was cut off. The dead king's name was Lucifer Dryland, also known as the King of Brimstone."

Wow! Wright was shocked. Lucifer? No wonder his bloodline was cut off—what mortal could endure that name?

Wright: "The one who was dressed like a pirate yesterday, whose family emblem looked like a skull pirate flag—is he one of the six kings too?"

Nymeria: "Dickon Manwody of Kingsgrave, descendant of the sixth king: Albin Manwody."

Wright: "Doesn't this king have any powerful titles?"

Nymeria: "No, history books say he had some mental issues."

Wright: "No wonder the guy looked like a pirate yesterday—he must have inherited the true tradition of his ancestors, mental issues and all. With three kings already, let's talk about the other three."

Nymeria: "One of the six kings, Benedict Blackmont of Blackmont. The current ruler is Lady Laura Blackmont. Another king is from your apprentice house, the Dayne's. The Dayne's titles were King of the Torrentine"

Wright: "I know this one. Ashara and I talked about it in detail."

Nymeria: "The last one is the King of Greenbelt, Yorick V Yronwood. His descendants are currently the most powerful and wealthiest family in Dorne besides the Martells. While the Dayne's have the ancestral title of Sword of the Morning,Yronwood's have the 'Bloodroyal' tite. The two families' titles—one is offensive, the other defensive—are not allies but long-time rivals."

Wright: "There's such a thing?"

Nymeria: "House Yronwood has a grudge against my father, Oberyn! The previous two lords, Edgar Yronwood, was poisoned to death by my father's poisoned spear, which is why he was exiled. The current lord's daughter, Ynys Yronwood, married Lord Ryon Allyrion, and that lord had an illegitimate son named Damon Sand, who was beaten half to death by you and then finished off by my father's spear."

"Ah! That's a huge grudge with the Yronwood family!" After hearing all this, Wright realized the depth of the history. He then turned to Nymeria and asked:

"We've already gathered four kings' descendants around us. These are some of Dorne's most powerful noble families. What does your father, Oberyn, mean by all this?"

Nymeria: "I don't know what he's thinking. After he heard about my pregnancy, he sent them all over."

Wright: "Are you hedging your bets on both sides?"

Nymeria: "What? You afraid you'll lose?" Nymeria said, following Wright's lead.

Wright: "Am I, Wright afraid of losing? If you weren't pregnant, you'd be in for a severe punishment!"

Nymeria: "Heh, you're just boasting! Add two more beds to the study, I'll bring the other lover over to stay with us, a beauty, too."

Wright: "There's more!?"
