Ryder's POV
"What?" I whispered.
"I stopped it, of course" He said.
"You did?" I asked him, trying to find comfort in that but found none.
"Don't flatter yourself, Ryder, I didn't do it for you. I did it for her"
"Well, thanks for not screwing my wife behind my back, Joshua. You are such a good friend!" My voice was laced with venom and spite.
I turned around.
It was getting harder and harder to breathe.
I turned around so he wouldn't know that I was struggling to do the most common thing - take a breathe to save my own life.
"I am going to ask her to marry me, Ry. When the gala ends and the time comes for wolves to announce marriage proposals…I'm going to ask Kaida to be my wife. Consequences be damned"
I didn't speak for a while and he stood there, I think he was expecting a reaction from me.
What would be the appropriate reaction to that?
Was he that blind and so self absorbed that he couldn't see through my facade to the truth beneath it?
