Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 - Insanity

After a momentary pause that to them felt longer than entirety, Elena spat out-

'And how credible is this this source of information?''No more than myself, look, I understand you don't trust me, but right now I am more serious than a surgeon performing his surgery.'

Elena fell into a pause of consideration, she was properly considering this horrific situation. Well, she isn't to blame. Normal Lower Servants would cause them a lot of trouble, Khalid was unaware of Elena's true extent of power, but his instincts always screamed when close to her, as if she can deliver a fatal blow to his body at any moment. Based on these assumptions, he figured that she should be able to account for 2 Lower Servants at best. However, that is only assumption based on feelings, he could never be sure enough unless he saw her combat extent. But at the very least, he has his trusty dagger, The Dagger of Loyalty, which greatly helps him fight against Lower Servants, this only works because he can easily hide due to his build, even though every man wants height as it makes them look much more masculine, a small part of Khalid appreciates his current body.

Well considering that he has only lived in that height for the past 3 years of his life, he is definitely used to his stature, he knows his good side and bad side of his stature better than anyone else. Using this knowledge, he has a, well ish-plan, as he waits in a place and ambushes them, and it only works if he gets lucky and the monster comes in front of him.

'Ok, here is what we are going to do: you will spill everything, and I mean literally everything that you know, and I shall devise a proper plan as to how we will go about killing it.'

With that she smashed the still silence and Khalid's sense of logic.

'Yeah, ill tell you eve…. WHAT? Have you lost your screws? They are definitely more than loose. I am not fighting it, nu uh, no way.'

Firmly shaking his head, Khalid rejected without question.

'Alright, I shall throw another benefit to our contract if you help me kill it.'

Khalid's greed spoke before his reasoning and he said in a most pleased tone-'And what might that be?' fluttering his eyes like butterfly wings.

'I shall teach you a secret dagger technique that my instructor specifically made for people around my stature.'

Actually, this surprised Khalid as he realised they had spent nearly 2 days together but he never noticed her physical features properly.

She is similar to Miss. Crimson in little ways, but they both are enchanting, Elena seems to be around Khalid's height, of course he doesn't want to acknowledge she is taller but in all honesty she is a bit taller.

On her pretty head, there lie red hair all around, and he cherry-like lips fit in her face nicely, if someone of her appearance walked down the street, there would definitely be at least a few heads turning, well, according to Khalid's poor opinion.

'Do all Crimsons look so hot?'- he accidentally blurted out which caused him to quickly retreat a couple steps.

This caused a low chuckle from Elena and there came a bold grin as if to make fun of him.

'Ahem, I shall accept your proposal because it doesn't even seem like we have much time anyway. There are creatures that growl, creatures that hiss, and then… there's The Devourer-a beast so horrifyingly quiet that even the wind refuses to move in its presence. Standing at a casual twelve feet tall, this walking void of despair looks like someone took the worst sleep paralysis demon imaginable, stretched it out, and then stole all feelings of compassion.

Its featureless face holds no eyes, no nose—just an endless, grinning maw that only opens when it's time to feed. The Devourer doesn't kill instantly.

No, that would be too merciful. Instead, its prey is forced to fight against an invisible weight, their limbs growing heavier with each breath, their own movements betraying them. They can thrash, they can scream, but the moment they meet its grasp, their struggles slow to a torturous crawl—as if the world itself is holding them down, forcing them to witness their own end. If you ever feel like the air's been sucked out of the room, like the silence is pressing against your skin… you're already too close.

Oh, and if you're thinking of running? Too bad. The moment it steps forward, time itself seems to drag, making escape a cruel joke.

The bad news? There are stronger versions out there. The somewhat better news? This is just the beginner-tier nightmare. Which means it can be killed.'

'That's great, how?'

'That is one great question Elen, well, I'll leave it up to the strategist to come up with it.'

'Do you seriously not know?'

'Of course not, I've clearly never tried to fight it, this is all based on observations I've made when seeing others fight it.'

'Of course not, I've clearly never tried to fight it, this is all based on observations I've made when seeing others fight it.'

'Alright, I will sit down on this rock and start to meditate, you will keep watch for now, I think longest it will take is 10 minutes.'

'10 minutes?! I don't even think we have 3, what 10?'

'That is why you will keep it company until I'm ready.'

'You're literally insane, you know that right?'

'No, I thought I was hot.' was said with a smug look and with that she began to meditate and left Khalid all blushed and flustered and thinking to himself, I'll teach her to not speak to me with that crazy snake tongue of hers, knowing full well he wouldn't do much about it.
