I stood, looking through a window at the batch of new spirits undergoing initiation.
After our fight, Queen had called a few people and had me scan their Own to see what its limitations were.
So far, none had been found, my Own had managed to activate and use the abilities of every replicated Own, with no exceptions.
So Queen just sent me away and told me that she would contact me when she found me something to do.
With nothing much to do, I was here, watching new spirits undergo initiation.
It looked identical to what I had gone through.
I observed in silence as one of them slipped and fell in the obstacle course, thinking about how these initiates compared to those who had been with me.
I heard the sound of a door opening and turned to look at the new arrival.
It was a female, slightly on the shorter side, with long purple hair and blue skin.
We made eye contact, and I saw that her eyes were a blue similar to her skin.
"Who are you?" She demanded. "This place is off-limits to all spirits below the rank of officer."
I examined the badge pinned to her shoulder.
"Yet, you are here." That response seemed to have taken her off-guard.
"I... uh... I was sent here to, uh, get something!" She panicked and started lying about her reasons for being here, and quite badly at that.
"I don't believe that." I responded, feeling slightly amused at the sight of this spirit's actions.
She seemed to have regained her bearings as she summoned her Own, a shortsword with a green lining around the blade.
"Doesn't matter, who are you and why are you here? You better come clean and not resist."
The bravado was fake, I could see that she was trembling as she pointed the blade at me.
She was smarter than she looked.
"Or what?" I asked and turned my body to face her, turning away from the window and casting a shadow over her.
My actions seemed to have intensified her panic.
Before she could do anything, I started walking towards her, startling her as she stepped back as I stepped forward.
Three steps later, she came to a decision and attacked me.
The next moment, she landed on her back with her breath knocked out of her.
A silver liquid flowed up my hand and wrapped around the sword in it.
Hmm... Not a bad ability, quite a bit of potential.
The woman tried to get up, but collapsed again, clutching her abdomen.
Did I hit her too hard? No, that wasn't the case, she was pretending.
"Get up, I know how injured you are."
She froze after I said that sentence, but got up after a moment.
I tossed her blade back to her.
"Introduce yourself and your reason for sneaking into a superior's office. Don't make me contact others."
The woman considered it for a moment but quickly came to a decision when I pressured her using my Da and started talking.
Her name was Merchid, she belonged to the defense division, and she was to see if her lost phone was in this office.
"Why didn't you just ask?" I asked, and she told me that the officer stationed her, who was Eric, the same one who had taken me through part of my initiation, scared her.
I raised an eyebrow at that response but didn't question it.
I asked her why she thought her phone would be here, and she informed me that found properties were kept in the nearest officers' room unless it was clearly something belonging to a certain group.
I let her search the office, and she actually found it.
She thanked me and walked away, and I went back to observing the initiates going through their initiation.
A few days passed, and I received a call from Queen.
She informed me of something I could do, and what she told me interested me quite a bit, so I agreed to her proposal, and made my way back to my room to make some preparations.
After an hour, I made my way to the location where Queen had told me to meet her.
I walked through the city with a calm, unhurried pace, I had some time before the agreed time.
I stopped when I noticed an object I had not noticed before.
It asked about it, and was informed that it was something called a 'Virtual reality headset'.
I asked what it did and was quite surprised when I heard about its functions.
Unfortunately, I did not have enough money on me at this time, so I could only sigh and continue my walk to my destination.
