Marsel exhales, his fingers tightening around his cup. He looks at Elira, as if silently asking how to begin. She gives a small nod, but the tension between them is unmistakable.
"Guys! My patience is running out! Don't you think I have had enough of worry already?! What is it?!"
The room is silent except for the faint crackling of the fireplace. But Ace barely hears it.
He sets down his cup slowly, his fingers feeling numb. "What do you two want to say to me? Am asking one last time and if you don't speak, am leaving!"
Elira exhales shakily, casting a brief glance at Marsel before finally speaking. "The night you were found as a newborn… Ace, it wasn't supposed to happen like that."
Ace frowns, the unease curling in his gut tightening.
"What do you mean?"
Marsel swallows hard.
His usual firm, controlled demeanor wavers, his fingers twitching slightly on the wooden table. "The people who left you there…" He looks directly at Ace, his voice raw. "It was us."
