Chapter 4 - Pt.1: 3: Hubby to the Rescue

The typical sweet moments at home quickly shifted, and dark clouds began developing inside the CEO's office of La Lune Perfume & Jewelry. The coldness from the dark clouds was overflowing to the point where anyone would be afraid to step on the floor, even if they were only going to meet Medina for some projects.

"Is she…"

"Yeah, it will be a while."

"Gosh, I hope it won't affect us. She's scary when she's furious."

"Don't worry. It will be alright; concentrate on your work."

Skylar may be at her office, yet the noises were clear enough to understand due to her inborn sensitive hearing. However, she ignored them and focused on the main topic: the release of the company's jewelry ideas for the next summer collection online. She creases her temple while tapping her fingers on her dark mahogany desk, deeply thinking about the situation.

"What's going on with this project?" With a cold but dangerous voice, Skylar firmly wondered what she read. "Is there any leak that I didn't know about?"

With a growing annoyance, Skylar got up from her seat and headed to the window, looking at the city view in the afternoon. Somehow, the view calmed her rising temper, but it was not enough. For some odd reason, she called him, her husband, Vincencio.

Text Messages:

Wifey: Hubby…what are you doing now?

Hubby: I just finished hanging up the laundry, why?

Wifey: Oh, nothing, just checking…

With a simple exchange, Skylar sighed and was about to put her phone down when she received an incoming call from her husband.

'Wifey, what's wrong?'

"Nothing, I just need to hear your voice." Skylar's voice was on the edge as she struggled to control the growing storm in her emotions, which Vincencio sensed through a call.

'Okay, spill. Remember, you can lean on me.'

"Somebody might have stolen my jewelry designs for this upcoming summer, and it's overlapping with the lack of organization around the design department. I'm getting lost." With a heavy sigh, Skylar briefed what troubled her mind.

'Hey, Wifey, listen, you are not lost. You're just overwhelmed with everything. Take a deep breath and take one step at a time. You'll figure it out.'

"I've been doing that, but I can't, Hubby." Her sigh deepened as she leaned over the window, making Vincencio's voice shift and go serious.

'Okay, my love, calm down. The first thing you should do is avoid pointing fingers at anyone since you do not want the situation to worsen. Also, you have tight security, which you can use to find the fault secretly. Then analyze everything you got from there.'

"Why haven't I thought of it? Am I getting out of my game lately? Damn. I better step up." Skylar's eyes widened, but she slyly smirked at the idea she heard from her husband. "Hm, that will do."

'Also, Wifey, you are a creative artist. You can doodle new designs with the same materials for the upcoming collection. Make them eat copying your company's design.'

"Nice way to put it." Her grin deepened as she went to her desk to check the stolen design.

'Well, just doing my job to ease my wife's worries. Did I do great?'

"Yes, you did." She smiled gratefully when her office door received a knock, making Medina peek her head in. She waved her hand to let her in before ending their conversation. "Oh, I have to go. I have to handle it as soon as possible."

'Best of luck, Wifey. I love you.'

"I love you too." She sweetly responded before hanging up the call and turned into the intimidating CEO when her secretary came.

"Sweet bone," Medina teased, making Skylar roll her eyes.

"He calms me down. So, have you got something for me about this matter?" With a dangerously cold voice, Skylar showed Medina the sudden issue at their hands.

"We've already handled that. Here's the department head's report and the team was handling the project. Also, here's Joey's security precaution, and this is from me," Medina confidently replied as she handed her employer the files she had gathered before adding, "According to their honest reports, no one in the company had the guts to destroy you because you're the coolest and kindest boss they've ever had, and they were well compensated. However, someone attempted to snoop and ruin the collection via social media."

"Mr. Fisher and Ms. Bond." Skylar read the file, and two names were familiar to her, making her eyes narrow, and she asked, "Why do these two get entangled with my project?"

"Connection you had with the Moon de Fragrance." Medina firmly answered with slight annoyance in her expression.

"I see…" Skylar dropped the paper on her desk and leaned her back on her chair—thinking. "If this escalates more than we're anticipating, they're going to deal with something else."

"Penny for your thoughts, Boss?" Medina's voice cut Skylar's thoughts.

"Nothing much, but Med, if this continues, they're going to deal with something else. You know what it means." With a stern voice, Skylar's expression shifted dangerously as she addressed Medina, who perfectly understood who she was talking to.

"If that will be the case, then I'll prepare the suit and the gears on standby," Medina firmly responded to the dangerous side of her boss.

"Good." With a cold voice, her dangerous look quickly softened as she changed the subject. "Anything else?"

"As usual, the design department still needs the project design manager to make their workflow run smoothly since their department secretary couldn't hold overlapping projects on her desk." Medina sighed as she added the same issue that hadn't been closed.

"That will be troublesome soon if not filled." Skylar clicked her tongue but didn't press further about the case. "Alright, update me if there's a new hire for the position."

"Noted, boss." Medina nodded and excused herself, making the day in the company go by easily.

Somewhere in the Chevalier City, where the night ticks deeper than dinnertime, a woman's heart sank as she run away from a hunter. She was haunted until she stumbled into a desolate alley, filled with dirt and dumpsters.

"WHAT DO YOU WANT?! MONEY? WEALTH? I DON'T HAVE IT!" The woman frantically shouted, hoping somebody would hear her, but sadly, nobody was around.

"Oh, you have something more precious than money or wealth." A chuckling voice from a mysterious lady echoed in the dark alley.

"I don't…" With a scared voice, the woman quivered when she felt a strange energy appear beside her.

"Life." The same mysterious lady with an amused voice whispered in the woman's ears, causing her to jump and fall on the muddy ground.

"Please, don't kill me…I have family…" Fear crept out from her body as she pleaded for mercy.

"You should think of them before you do things that will take away from them." With amusement, the mysterious lady skipped around the frightened woman on the ground.

"NO!" The woman cried defensively, making the mysterious lady chuckle as she taunted the woman. She cried as she pleaded. "NO! PLEASE, I'LL DO ANYTHING! JUST DON'T TAKE THEM AWAY FROM ME!"

"Anything?" With a sinister grin, she asked the crying woman.

"Yes, anything. Just don't kill me or take them away from me, please…" she begged desperately.

"Then, bring Mr. Somer to the same spot where it all began." The mysterious lady grabbed the woman's chin as she stated what she wanted from her before blending into the shadow, laughing. "I'll be waiting, Bondage Whip."

In the Princestone Village, at the Saison-Monsour household, Vincencio waited for his wife to return home. He played randomly some melody on the grand piano while drinking his latte when heard a clattering sound from the main door, making his smile brighten. He was about to meet his wife halfway, but Skylar was tired and slumps on the couch.

"Wifey, what's wrong?" With his worry, Vincencio approached and sat beside his wife.

"I'm sorry, I ran late due to the company's issue." With a tired smile, Skylar apologized to him and snuggled into his arms as soon as he sat beside her.

"Like what you called me earlier?" he wondered, making Skylar shake her head.

"It's settled, but the project design manager spot is still empty, and it was affecting the flow of the design department, making some projects overlap." With a heavy sigh, Skylar briefly answered her trouble around the company.

"Okay, need my help?" He carefully asked, making his wife's attention perk up.

"Do you have artistic bones that I didn't know about?" With a scrutinizing gaze, she amusingly wondered.

"Hey, we graduated from the same school, and besides, I'm flexible. Just give me six months –" He defended but immediately interrupted.

"No, you better master the flow in a week." She interjected with a daring tone, making Vincencio frown before adding, "What? You said, Flexible, meaning you can do it."

"I'm not a computer, but fine. I'll help, but I can't promise it will be in a week. But, I can offer you the greatest results." With a defeated sigh, he sincerely assured his wife while they cuddled.

"That's better than six months." With a winning grin, Skylar captured his lips, and Vincencio didn't hesitate to return.

"Hungry?" With love shining in his eyes, Vincencio pulled away as he wondered when her stomach answered before she could. "That answers it."

Early in the morning at the company, everyone was busy murmuring to each other about a newly hired project design manager. Everyone was gossiping about how gorgeous the new employee looked in his tailored suit or how charming his smile was whenever he politely greeted them, which every lady and gay swooned over, which secretly annoyed their CEO.

"BACK TO WORK." With her usual cold-intimidating façade, Skylar firmly commanded everyone in the hall before walking to her office.

After her usual tour around the company, Skylar approached her office, where a sharp and incredibly gorgeous man stood by the window as if he owned the space. Instead of being intimidated, Skylar became enthralled by the view in front of her.

"Like my office so far?" With her amused tone, Skylar wondered as she removed her coat, making Vincencio turn and grin at her.

"Yeah, simple, spacious, but cool like you." With a sweet smile, he replied as he went closer to her side.

"Thank you, Hubby." She wrapped her arms around his neck and thanked him.

"Mr. Monsour for you, boss." He pecked her lips as he reminded her what they talked about beforehand.

"Oh, come on, why don't you want them to know that you're married to me?" She cutely whined, making Vincencio chuckle.

"I don't want them to think I'm using you to get the position." He pecked her lips one more time before pulling away.

"Well, I put you there since I know you can, not because you're my husband." With a little grumpiness, she rolled her eyes as she sat on the couch.

"I know since I went through the process too, and besides, I don't want to share with them how softie you are as my wife." He pulled his wife into his arms, and Skylar melted in.

"Sweet, but did you tell your department head the truth about us?" She sighed and wondered while playing with his tie.

"I think Medina already had it covered since I saw him grinning like a Cheshire cat as soon as he met me. I thought I lost my hand when he even shook my hand earlier." He informed her how he met their design department head earlier.

"That's Antonio Brown for you." She chuckled.

"Old friend?" He arched his left eyebrow, making Skylar slightly hit his chest before getting up.

"He's the grandson of an old friend. I helped him to get away from his abusive parents and finish college." Skylar cleared her throat before Vincencio could misunderstand her connection to the design department head. "I'm his aunt outside the company."

"I see." He nodded when Medina knocked and entered the office.

"Vince, you have three minutes before you start your duty," Medina informed him as she placed some files on the CEO's desk.

"Okay, see you at home, wifey." He kissed his wife's lips before dashing out of the office like he was not even there to chill.

"Don't give me that look." Seeing Medina's teasing grin, Skylar coldly said while trying to hide her blushing cheek. "Geez, Vince. What have you done to me?"
