Chapter 125 - Chapter 125: Harmony's Decision & Shawn's Resolve IX

"Why are you suddenly being curious?"

Shawn lowered his eyes.

"I did notice that Miss Morgrave followed you outside after you went out. Even though there are other places to step out to, she chose the side where you went out," Dominick then said.

He leaned forward on his table, "Tell me, have you become closer to her? Or do you have any connection with her?"

Shawn looked back at his father, "If I say that I actually do, would you be mad?"

Dominick silently looked at his son.

He knew how much Shawn always befriended a lot of people, though he was aware of whom he should befriend.

"Why her?" he asked seriously.

"She was worthy," he answered truthfully.

"I don't think I have seen you interact with her. What makes you say that she is worthy of being your friend?"

"No, Father. She is worthy of becoming anyone's friend. I am not saying she is worthy to be my friend, but that she is worthy to be a friend," Shawn replied after hearing his father's words.

Dominick's brow rose slightly.

"I got to know her in a different way than you think, not because of the social circles we usually attend. And I got to know her character more. That is why I was able to say this. But I also know how our family was on guard when it comes to them. That is why I wish to know your opinion as well," Shawn explained.

After a few seconds of silence, Dominick once again opened his lips.

"I'd say she is someone different from her parents. True, she is their princess, but I don't feel that same feeling of being on guard when it comes to that child," he admitted.

Shawn patiently waited for what else he had to say.

"But that doesn't mean we should easily get close."

"I understand, Father."

"I am not stopping you. I just want you not to put a lot of your trust in her."

"Yes, Father."

"That is why I will also ask you, why are you asking about her parents?"

"Will you believe me if I tell you that the way they portray their family in public may not be the real case behind closed doors?"

Dominick squinted his eyes.

It is indeed true that Wynter Morgrave was the perfect princess of the Morgrave family, and they always appear in public as a loving family.

But he also knew that his son wouldn't speak this way unless he had witnessed something himself.

"We cannot interfere with whatever it is that is happening in their family," he reminded.

"I won't unless she asks me to do something, then I won't. I just want to know at the very least what kind of burdens she is carrying," Shawn replied.

He gritted his teeth while remembering how much he had pestered her before and how much more he made her go through without knowing anything.

Somehow, he felt stupid for acting all friendly when all along he was just being a burden to her.

"It seems that the worth you found in her is remarkable for you to act this way," Dominick commented.

Shawn firmly nodded his head, "It is."

"Very well. If you wish to know more about her mother, then go and ask your mother. Or your Aunt Tiffany, they have been rivals for years. As for her father, I saw him dote on her as a child, and I saw him looking proud speaking about his son. As for anything else, I have no idea. Just that he is a good businessman."

"I see. Thank you, Father."

He came here to ask about Wynter's background, but at the same time, he also wished to know where his father stands when it comes to him befriending her.

"So, what else can you tell me."

Harmony looked up from her book.

She was in the library, waiting for her next subject that is in another two hours.

Gabriel and Shawn were well aware of where she always was because Gabriel would look for her from time to time to ask a few things about books.

After she had given him some and supported him with the others, he knew she was well aware of what books he needed for improving.

On the other hand, Shawn accompanied him most of the time that he became aware of this as well.

Harmony looked around, there was barely anyone around them right now.

From time to time, people still turned to their side whenever Gabriel and Shawn approached her. They were obviously looking toward Shawn, knowing how they would have a better future if they got close to him.

At first, most wondered who she was, but because they'd only see Shawn approach her whenever Gabriel was present, they started losing interest in her.

This was the very first time he had approached her on his own. The reason why she looked around.

She had a lot on her plate this time. She did not wish to receive unnecessary attention.

"I had thought you'd approach me again back in our place," she voiced out.

"The reason for not wanting attention is because of your secret," he commented.

"Yes. I can't receive any kind of unnecessary attention lest it troubles my family."

Shawn pursed his lips, "I'm sorry. I just found myself looking for you on campus due to my curiosity. That was wrong of me."

Harmony blinked, "I suppose I am no longer shocked."

"Then before anyone notices, I'll take my leave. I'll see you back in your place."

He was impulsive in many ways, and that is why he has a lot more things to change.

Harmony nodded her head, "I'll answer anything as much as I can."

"Sorry… for everything," he said before leaving.

Harmony could only sigh before returning her eyes to her book.
