The hunters all step back in fear as the goofy hyena bursts out in laughter, joined by his opposite head, upon their victory.
The middle head growls deeply, daring them to keep advancing.
Cordayl shakes his head, and in that moment, all three assassins dive in to kill him.
Cordayl blocks all of the attacks and holds them there. "Always so eager." He states, pushing them away.
Everyone squares up. The assassins circle Cordayl slowly, then dive in for a quick bout. The interaction doesn't last long, as the trio disengages after a few exchanges, circling their mark again.
Cordayl calmly watches them as they methodically choose their moment to strike again.
None of their numerous calculated attacks are successful, and Cordayl decides to go on the offensive. However, the trio are annoyingly in sync as they quickly put Cordayl back on the defensive with their teamwork.
Cordayl sees that he will have to start taking this group seriously, so he decides to activate his gravity manipulation.
Decreasing the gravity, the trio expects this as their gear automatically activates to weigh them down. Staying grounded, they aim their lasers low, using Cordayl's gravity manipulation to force the blast on target.
Cordayl cancels the gravity, forcing the shots to miss, but takes advantage of the situation by landing a few blows on one of the assassins, making them roll out of view.
The other two assassins quickly jump on Cordayl, though, and after a quick bout, the three disengage and square back up. The assassin knocked out of the picture rejoins her team.
Feeling confident, the big assassin speaks. "Your tactics are studied and old, Diablo. We know everything you can and will do and are more than prepared for you."
Cordayl smirks and, in a blink, is behind all three of them, but this catches none of them off guard as they fill the room with a blinding light.
Cordayl naturally closes his eyes, and the trio attacks again while they have the advantage.
Even with his eyes closed, Cordayl manages to defend himself well, but the assassins do land a few hits on him.
Cordayl gets furious and decides to show them some new tricks he has learned.
Fighting with his gravity, Cordayl lightens the field. Once their technology activates, he instantly reverses it, smashing them downward.
Their tech reverses to keep their bodies as normal as possible, which Cordayl predicted, and then he punches the air in the direction of one of the assassins.
The assassin only gets a split second to be confused as he thinks Cordayl must still be slightly blinded, but then he is smacked hard in the front by an invisible force that sends him slamming into the cave wall behind him.
The assassins look at each other confused, and Cordayl smirks remarking that they need to update their school books, as he effortlessly starts to whoop their ass.
Masterfully using his gravity control, Cordayl slams, slides, and unbalances the assassins, ripping their armored tech apart and beating the trio with as much ease and grace as an Olympic gymnast.
The wounded woman watches in amazement at the prowess of the Diablo. The assassin who pulled a knife on her rolls to a stop next to her, clearly worn out.
The two lock eyes, and the assassin gets an idea. Approaching the woman, the silent assassin demands her to do her trick and suck all of the oxygen out of the room.
"I can't!" the woman tells her.
"You can, or we all die. It's our only chance of survival, " the assassin says.
"No, I can't. It's something that only happens when my life is in danger." The girl explains, a look of regret crossing her face as soon as she says it.
"Is that so?" The assassin says, pulling out her knife. The woman looks down at the blade and then back at the assassin.
The woman tries to run, but the assassin quickly has her by the hair with the knife right under her chin.
"Do it now, or die." The assassin coldly states.
The woman vaguely struggles around, and upon seeing that she is unsuccessful in activating her trick, the assassin calmly states, "So be it." And moves the dagger to plunge it straight into her chest.
Right before the dagger stabs, the girl closes her eyes, and the room is instantly deprived of oxygen.
Everyone in the cave starts to gasp for air, falling to their knees as they suffocate on the floor.
Eyes still shut, the girl doesn't open them until she feels a tap on her shoulder.
Opening them, she sees Cordayl and freaks out even more.
Cordayl can feel the woman's fright suck even more air out of the room. "If you don't calm down, you're going to kill everyone in the room." Cordayl calmly tells her.
The girl looks around at everyone fighting and begging to breathe again, even noticing the assassin, with her own knife protruding through her head. She looks at Cordayl, who just stares back at her.
Taking a deep breath, the girl calms herself, and the air returns to the room. Everyone gasps and gags as they swallow as much oxygen as they can.
The girl asks Cordayl how he is still breathing. Cordayl just shrugs and states that magic is complicated. Walking towards the hyena, Cordayl shouts to Neji to see if he is fine.
Neji gives him a thumbs-up, signaling that he is alive. Cordayl gets to the hyena, and the thing is just licking itself clean. The hyena gets happy seeing Cordayl approach, and Cordayl pets all the heads, happy his friend is okay.
Walking over to check on the hunters, Cordayl sees that all but one survived. "My condolences for your friends, but if you would like a ride back to the mainland, just meet me outside of the cave."
"But what about the treasure?" the hunter whispers.
"I'm going to be honest, I don't know what treasure you guys are looking for," Cordayl admits.
"What! You mean this was all for nothing!" The hunter asks.
"I don't know. I never looked for a treasure. I was just walking east when I stumbled upon this island. Been here enjoying the peace, but now that that's over." Cordayl says, returning his attention to the two defeated assassins on the ground.
The hunters let out a sigh of disappointment, and Cordayl tells them they are still free to search for the treasure at their own risk. The hunters light up but then deflate, seeing the big ass hyena behind Cordayl.
"No, it's fine. We'll meet you outside." The scary hunter states, walking away to exit the cave. Cordayl accepts their answer and walks away to talk to the assassins.
Reaching them, Cordayl squats down between them. "Well, I threatened your boss, hoping that would make him keep his forces close and buy me some peace for a while, but I guess vacation is over. So tell me where to find him, and I'll let you live." Cordayl says.
"If I could spit on you, I would." The big assassin states, chest still heaving in pain.
Cordayl nods his head and looks at the other one. "And you?"
The assassin has just enough energy to raise his hand slightly above his waist and give Cordayl the finger.
Cordayl sighs and stands up. Grabbing each assassin by the foot, he drags them till he is close to the giant hyena and tosses them both into the sky, letting the hyena have a snack.
Helping the woman up, he asks her if she has any information for him. She tells him she doesn't, and he just sighs again. Walking over to a rock, Cordayl pushes it out of the way and finds the short man collapsed behind it.
"What about you?" Cordayl asks, poking him in the side with his foot.
"I'll tell you if you get me off this terrible island." The short man says.
"You'll tell me, or you will be fed to the hyena." Cordayl retorts.
The short man looks over at the hyena that spits out bits of the assassin's tech armor and whimpers at the thought. "Okay, okay." He says, rolling over and standing up. "I happen to be in business with a few of them and might be able to set up a meeting."
"And what kind of business puts you in bed with them?" Cordayl ask.
"The business of information, which I am king of on this side of the compass." The man states proudly.
"Why do I get the feeling you are playing with me?" Cordayl ask.
"I'm not! Scouts honor." The short man shouts.
Cordayl looks at him blandly and grabs his leg, dragging him over to the hyena.
The man grabs at the cave floor to no avail and begs Cordayl to let him go.
Cordayl ignores him until he shouts for him to wait. Cordayl stops and turns his head enough to look at the man.
"Okay, okay. Apparently, there is an event coming up where all the big-wig glovers show up. I happen to have an invitation to said event, and if you spare me, you can be my plus one." The short man bargains.
Cordayl looks at him and thinks about it. "All the shot callers in one place? Sounds like my kind of party." Cordayl smirks.
