His gaze locked on her, no fear, no hesitation, just burning, ancient resolve.
"Freyr," I said, my voice raw.
He looked back once, eyes aglow with red fire, fangs bared. "She is exposed. I must finish it."
Before I could stop him, he was gone.
In a burst of air and motion, he shifted into his true form vampire, pure and furious. His aura exploded outward, wings of darkness and light forming behind him for a breathless instant before they shattered into mist. He was already across the beach, tearing into the waves.
