Chapter 12 - Mitsume ga Tōru

There is no Tattoos of Gods and Ghosts that can completely break such powerful spells and curses. However, there is one similar to it—though I'm not sure if it will work. Its name is Mitsume ga Tōru.

The origin of Mitsume ga Tōru is also quite strange. It is said that during the Ming Dynasty, a fisherwoman went out to sea and caught an extraordinarily beautiful fish. Instead of selling or eating it, she kept it at home.

About a month later, despite being single and unmarried, she became pregnant. Some said the fish she brought back was a demon, while others claimed she had encountered the Dragon King during her fishing trip—that this was the Dragon King's child.

Opinions varied wildly, and the rumors grew so ominous that the fisherwoman's parents dared not dispose of the child lightly. What if it really was the Dragon King's offspring? Offending the Dragon King was the last thing fishermen wanted.

Ten months later, the fisherwoman gave birth to a strange, three-eyed child. Unlike Erlang Shen Yang Jian, whose third eye was on his forehead, this child's third eye was on the back of its head.

That eye held immense power—it was said to be the purest of holy eyes, capable of seeing through all illusions, breaking a thousand spells, and nullifying a hundred curses. Later, a monk took the child in as his disciple, and it became known as Mitsume ga Tōru.

This Mitsume ga Tōru was naturally mischievous. My grandfather warned that this tattoo must be inked on the soles of the feet—so it could be "stepped on" and kept under control. Otherwise, even if the tattoo itself didn't cause harm, the wearer would inevitably suffer minor misfortunes.

Among humanoid Tattoos of Gods and Ghosts, this one is the simplest—the technique isn't complicated. Still, it costs $10,000. As for its effectiveness? No guarantees. I don't know if that third eye will actually work. Of course, if it fails, I'll refund the money in full.

Luna didn't hesitate at all. She said she trusted Philip's recommendation and believed in me. Without another word, she handed me the money.

As expected, she's nothing like her sister—so decisive, so gentle. Love, love, love! I'll have to tattoo her extra carefully later.

After preparing the ink, I began the tattooing process. When Luna took off her shoes and rolled up her pants, my eyes instantly lit up.

Her feet were small, her legs long, pale and perfectly straight. I've heard of a profession called leg modeling—Luna would be perfect for it.

How should I put this? If I could play with them, I'd do so for three years straight without stopping.

As the saying goes: "Men shouldn't touch the head, women shouldn't touch the waist." A woman's feet are just as sensitive. When I first touched Luna's ankles, she instinctively flinched, her face flushing red.

But there was no way around it - the tattoo work had to continue. After touching her feet a few more times, Luna gradually became accustomed to it. Holding Luna's feet in my palms was truly a kind of enjoyment.

I had to tattoo upside down, placing Mitsume ga Tōru's head at the bottom of the foot and working my way up from the foot to the leg. This meant not just the foot, but the leg as well was touched during the process.

Still, tattooing is a job with its perks - much like being a photographer.

Luna's temper was really good. If it had been Stella, she probably would have slapped me by now. After all, a woman's foot is a sensitive thing for a strange man to touch, so I considered myself lucky.

It was about 1 AM when I finally finished the Mitsume ga Tōru tattoo.

It depicted a very cute little kid. Even with that strange third eye growing from the back of his head, it didn't diminish his childlike innocence and charm at all. His mischievous face had chubby cheeks, and paired with Luna's beautiful legs, this Tattoo of Gods and Ghosts turned out perfectly. I just didn't know how effective it would be.

After the tattooing, Luna praised my skills and thanked me repeatedly before leaving. Before she went, she assured me she would definitely resolve her sister's matter for me.

With Luna's guarantee, I naturally felt reassured. With $30,000 added to my account today, I lay down on my bed exhausted but satisfied.

Though I'm still far from my hundred million goal, I'll certainly earn enough. Grandpa, wait for me!

The next morning, Chloe came in before I even opened the shop. Her face was deathly pale. After asking, I learned she had gone to the police station yesterday to check - that man really was a dead person! And had been dead for a while!

He was a driver who had died in a car accident about a week ago. The case was puzzling, but Chloe had clearly slept with him. Couldn't she tell the difference between a living person and a corpse? He had only suddenly died halfway through!

Could it be, as Stella said, that this was... corpse possession?

I told her to calm down. Corpse possession wasn't random evil - someone must have done this intentionally. I asked her to think carefully about whether she had offended anyone or if any enemies wanted to harm her.

Chloe thought for a long time before seeming to reach an answer. She said there was one person - a nemesis at the nightclub named Isabella.

Isabella had been the nightclub's former headliner, but after Chloe's arrival, the top position had changed hands. Chloe had stolen nearly half of her business.

In this case, it was possible Isabella had found someone to harm her. Chloe cursed, saying that bitch was truly vicious. In this line of work, success should depend on merit. Resorting to dirty tricks just because she couldn't compete almost cost Chloe her life.

Chloe said she would deal with her later. Right now, she wanted me to give her a Tattoo of Gods and Ghosts. Life was more important - as Stella said, Chloe would die in seven days!

Chloe had only half-believed before, but now she was completely convinced. Since she already knew who was trying to harm her, the $20,000 price tag - though still expensive - seemed worth it when compared to her life. At this point, she would pay any amount!

I assured her it was no problem - as long as the money was paid, the Tattoo of Gods and Ghosts would definitely be done.

After a quick breakfast, I prepared to give Chloe her tattoo. Olivia's ghost-beggar tattoo should be able to drive away the spirit haunting Chloe.

Just at that moment, Olivia called me again, thanking me profusely and saying my Tattoo of Gods and Ghosts had really worked.

She explained that when she was sleeping in bed at night, the ghost had appeared again. But just then, there was a sudden "heeza" sound, and a black shadow holding a staff appeared at the head of Olivia's bed.

With one roar, the ghost was so terrified its legs gave out. It scrambled away in panic, rolling and crawling out the doorway before disappearing. When Olivia looked back, the shadow had vanished too.

I told her there was no need to guess - that was the Ghost-Begging Yaksha finally taking effect. It seemed this Tattoo of Gods and Ghosts really worked, which made me feel more confident about giving one to Chloe.

Olivia kept gushing on the phone about how amazing the tattoo was, saying one wasn't enough and she'd come see me again in the afternoon before hanging up.

I was puzzled - why did this woman want to see me again? You can't "eat" Tattoos of Gods and Ghosts, so what was her reason? Was she plotting something? Whatever - as long as she paid, I didn't care.

After hanging up, I prepared to make Chloe's tattoo. But then I realized with frustration that I didn't have enough ink - I'd used up all I brought with me after doing three tattoos yesterday.

Then I remembered - Grandpa had said if I needed more Tattoo of Gods and Ghosts ink, I should go see a guy named Christoph who runs a crematorium.
