The rage that birthed inside me almost blinded me, and if Zaylen hadn't stepped in, I would have done some serious damage to him.
It felt like he had violated my daughter–turned her into someone I didn't even recognise.
We had instilled values in our children and taught them to trust us, but Arata hid everything.
He had changed her and I fully blamed him. I wasn't sure how he made her do things she would never even dream of doing but I was going to get to the bottom of it.
"Dad, please. Calm down." Zaylen settled me on the bench seat while Stella fetched me water.
"Arata is fighting for her life inside. We need to remain calm for her sake, not fight." Zaylen heaved. "Just let her at least gain consciousness and then we will deal with whatever. We need to hear her side of the story."
