After leaving the Blood God Legion, Leng Yaozhu first took Xia Yi to the military supply station to purchase a batch of basic equipment, such as the Abyss Isolation Shield. With this, one would not be affected by the destructive aura of the Abyssal Plane after entering the Abyss Passage.
There was also the Invisibility Vest—not truly invisible, but capable of emitting a wave of abyssal creature aura, making it harder for abyssal creatures to detect the wearer.
Aside from these two items, the rest were just auxiliary gadgets and not particularly important.
Leaving the supply station, Xia Yi and Leng Yaozhu began their hike toward the Abyssal Cavern. Along the way, Leng Yaozhu took the opportunity to explain some basic information about the Abyssal Plane to Xia Yi.
"The Abyssal Plane appeared in the Endless Mountains approximately 6,300 years ago. In the war back then, over 200,000 lives were lost. The Tang Sect's Douluo Hall Hallmaster of that generation fell in battle against an Abyssal Plane king. Four members of that generation's Shrek Seven Devils perished. Of the Eighteen War Gods of the War God Temple, ten died. Among the four Spirit Transmitters of the Spirit Pagoda, three died. As for the three Deputy Hallmasters, one died and one was severely injured—it was an incredibly tragic battle."
"But the blood of our predecessors was not spilled in vain. The abyssal creatures were forced back to their own plane. After that, our predecessors sealed the Abyssal Passage by force. Although they couldn't completely seal it, creatures of king level and above have since found it extremely difficult to cross through. The Blood God Legion was established at that time, initiated by the four major organizations with a single purpose: to guard the passage and prevent the abyssal creatures from returning. However, the Tang Sect no longer exists."
Leng Yaozhu sighed softly, then continued,
"The Abyssal Plane is even more powerful than you can imagine. It consists of 108 layers, each connected by spatial passages. Every layer houses an Abyssal King. So, there are 108 kings, collectively known as the 108 Abyssal Emperors. Among them, the first 36 are roughly equivalent in strength to our human Title Douluos—not too concerning. The middle 36 are comparable to Hyper Douluos, and still manageable. But the final 36 layers are all on the level of Limit Douluos, or even stronger. The emperors in the final ten layers are all near-god level existences. As for the emperor of the 108th layer, the Abyssal Saint Monarch—no one knows the true extent of his power."
"Although soul tool technology on the Douluo Continent is highly advanced, it's still insufficient to contend with the Abyssal Plane. Currently, only the God-Slaying Fixed Soul Ammunition can potentially threaten a Limit Douluo. Even then, if a Limit Douluo is determined to escape, it's difficult for the projectile to hit its target. Therefore, to truly defeat the Abyssal Plane, we must cultivate a powerful deity."
"Some suspect the appearance of the Abyssal Plane was orchestrated by the Will of the Plane itself. As soul tool tech advanced, Douluo Continent's resources were rapidly depleted, and the overall energy level of the plane has started to degrade. Some speculate that the Will of the Plane intentionally drew the Abyssal Plane here in hopes that Douluo Continent could eventually devour the Abyss in return. This theory has gained support among many factions. However, others believe that the Will of the Plane wouldn't risk the survival of Douluo Continent like that, especially since the Abyss is vastly more powerful."
As she spoke, Leng Yaozhu brought Xia Yi to the entrance of a massive cavern.
"This is the Abyssal Passage. Remember how you entered during the test that day? It's the same here, just on a larger scale. After entering, the number of abyssal creatures will be far greater. I won't intervene unless absolutely necessary. Be cautious. If you encounter an irresistible threat, retreat immediately. Don't hesitate. This is your first time entering the Abyssal Passage. There's no need to go deep. Understand?"
Xia Yi nodded,
"Understood!"
Leng Yaozhu stopped at the mouth of the massive cave. Xia Yi stood beside her, gazing down into the darkness below. From time to time, low rumbling sounds echoed up. Snow slid down the cave edges now and then, and large ice crystals surrounded the area.
This enormous cavern, over 3,000 meters in diameter, looked like a gaping mouth waiting to devour everything.
"Deploy your Two-Word Battle Armor. And remember, no hesitation down there. Also, activate the Abyss Isolation Shield and the Invisibility Vest," Leng Yaozhu instructed.
Xia Yi complied. Instantly, he felt a layer of invisible airflow spreading out from the shield above his head, enveloping his body. Meanwhile, the vest emitted a strange wave—likely mimicking the frequency of abyssal creatures.
With a thought, blocks of platinum-colored battle armor released and quickly covered his entire body.
When the massive platinum wings on his back unfolded, even Leng Yaozhu was momentarily stunned.
"Now I understand why Yulai keeps refusing a Four-Word Battle Armor. She's clearly waiting for you to become a Divine Blacksmith and forge one for her," she said with a sigh.
Given Xia Yi's forging skill, Leng Yaozhu believed that once he became a Divine Blacksmith, the Heavenly Refined metal he produced would far surpass that of Zhen Hua.
"Once I become a Divine Blacksmith, I'll reforge your Four-Word Battle Armor too, Zhu'er," Xia Yi grinned.
His Two-Word Battle Armor was forged from five fused alloys. Its brilliance wasn't just aesthetic—it stemmed from a denser set of core arrays. Thanks to his exceptional physical constitution, Xia Yi could endure much greater energy surges, and as a result, his armor's augmentation effect was far stronger than a typical Two-Word set.
Unfolding his wings, he hovered in the air with soul power. The platinum light of the armor shimmered in the snowy landscape, creating a brilliant stream of light.
"Go," Leng Yaozhu said calmly.
She hadn't rejected his offer. Her Four-Word Battle Armor had initially been weaker than the Amorous and Heartless Douluos', but as her strength grew, her armor had evolved significantly. Still, it wasn't enough—not yet.
Xia Yi spread his wings and leapt into the cavern. He soon landed on a large net at the bottom.
By the time he arrived, Leng Yaozhu was already waiting there.
Soon, a series of electronic scanning pulses rippled through the air. The Blood God Rings on their wrists glowed in response—obviously triggered by the internal sensors installed by the Blood God Legion to verify identity.
"At the outer perimeter of the Abyssal Passage, the Blood God Legion has built an extremely strong defense system over many years. It works both ways—inside and out. If an abyssal creature tries to charge out, it'll be met with devastating force. This is the final layer of protection for the Abyssal Passage," Leng Yaozhu explained.
"What's beneath this net?" Xia Yi asked curiously.
"That used to be the real Abyssal Passage. The most powerful abyssal creatures require large passages to exit. Later, the top powerhouses from major factions sealed it up. Only smaller passages remain now. That's why only weaker abyssal creatures can emerge. If a high-level Abyssal King wants to descend, they have to pay a significant price," she replied.
Inside the pitch-black tunnel, two regiments of soldiers were stationed year-round. While each regiment wasn't numerically large, their combat capabilities were formidable, and their equipment was top-tier.
The tunnel wasn't completely dark either—lights had been installed at regular intervals. These were safe zones, all set up by the Blood God Legion.
Before long, they encountered soldiers from the Legion. With their Blood God Rings, they passed unimpeded.
Continuing inward, they reached the first tunnel platform. The entire area had been converted into a metallic fortress, filled with soul tools and even metal resting quarters.
Leng Yaozhu explained further,
"Currently, there are hundreds of Abyssal Passages. Among them, only 36 are classified as top-tier. These top-tier ones can allow the most powerful abyssal creatures through. The Blood God Legion categorizes the passages as S, A, B, and C-level. Since it's your first time here, we'll go to a C-level passage. These tend to be narrow, so only weaker abyssal creatures can pass through. It's safe and will help you get familiar with them."
"Okay," Xia Yi nodded.
After explaining the situation to the stationed troops, Leng Yaozhu and Xia Yi entered a passage about five meters tall.
