After Tang Wulin explained everything in detail, Tang Ziran and Lang Yue finally understood the full truth of his identity and origins.
They were both shocked—who would have thought that the son they had picked up and raised had such a prestigious background?
The Son of the Sea God, no less!
If it weren't for a certain "genetic defect," he would have been perfect.
"Wulin, don't be too upset. Inheritance isn't your fault. At least it's better than being a... lone hero, right?" Lang Yue tried to comfort him with an awkward smile.
"She's right, Wulin. At least your body is intact. That's already a beneficial mutation. I believe your next generation will be even better," Tang Ziran said, patting his shoulder supportively.
"Dad, Mom, you don't need to comfort me. I'm not that fragile." Tang Wulin had a bitter smile on his face. Quick or not, now the entire Douluo Continent knew how "quick" he was.
And the key issue? He was currently the head of the Sea God's Pavilion.
"In that case, Wulin, continue with your cultivation. Your mother and I won't disturb you any longer." Tang Ziran sighed. Wulin's "quickness" was inherited—there was nothing he and Lang Yue could do about it.
"Dad, Mom, go ahead. Don't worry about me. Once I recover, I'll come find you." Tang Wulin nodded. At the moment, cultivation was the only way he could numb himself.
"Sigh." Tang Ziran turned around and left with Lang Yue. Once they returned to the hotel, Tang Ziran couldn't help but sigh helplessly.
"Sigh, who would've thought that the legendary Douluo hero would be a lone hero... A lone hero must be even quicker than Wulin. I can't imagine how Wulin's biological mother survived all these years. Has she been living like a widow for twenty thousand years?" Lang Yue sighed.
"I think that's very likely. I remember hearing my mother talk about the story of the Sea God Tang San. She said that among the original Shrek Seven Devils, aside from Tang San, the others were all playboys. Only Tang San kept himself pure and never entered brothels—he was known as 'Pure and Pristine Young Master Tang San.' Back then, she said it was because he only loved his wife, the Soft Bone Douluo Xiao Wu, and saw other women as trash. But now I understand. I think it's because, like Wulin, he didn't dare to enter those places—he was afraid women would discover his 'lone hero' defect," Tang Ziran said seriously.
"That makes sense. Maybe it's precisely because he only had Xiao Wu that his secret never got out." Lang Yue nodded in agreement. "Poor Soft Bone Douluo. To keep her husband's flaw a secret, she willingly lived like a widow for so long."
"Sigh. Who would have imagined... the mighty Thousand-Hand Douluo, Sea God Tang San, the pristine Young Master Tang, was a lone hero." Tang Ziran shook his head in dismay, feeling deep pity for this legendary figure of their Tang Clan.
He had been an idol to so many people—how could he be a lone hero?
"We should focus on Wulin for now." Lang Yue frowned. "Shrek Academy is going insane, just like Long Yeyue. I really worry about Wulin being the head of Sea God's Pavilion right now."
"That's exactly what I wanted to talk about! Shrek Academy stole the Eternal Heaven. It's just like Tang Sect—they've become a rebellious organization. You saw what happened to Tang Sect. Shrek Academy won't fare much better," Tang Ziran said, rubbing his temples, brows tightly furrowed. "But you've seen it too—Wulin is obsessed with Shrek Academy. Getting him to resign from the Pavilion, let alone leave the Academy, is next to impossible!"
"Exactly. If I were in the federal government, I wouldn't allow Shrek to possess such a destructive weapon like the Eternal Heaven either. If they can't retrieve it, I'd rather blow it up—even if that means detonating it within Shrek Academy," Lang Yue agreed.
"Shrek Academy could be destroyed again at any time. We must find an excuse to get Wulin out of there," Tang Ziran said grimly.
Even as he spoke, he lacked confidence in his own words.
Shrek was just rebuilt. It needed the Pavilion Master to stabilize things. How could Tang Wulin possibly leave so easily?
Mingdu
Xia Hong received an order to head to the parliamentary hall.
But shortly after leaving the police department, the world around her suddenly fell silent. The once-bustling streets of Mingdu felt like they'd been sealed away—heavy and vast, like the depths of the ocean.
"You've come all this way, and you're still hiding? What's the point?" Xia Hong's gaze remained calm, completely unfazed by the sudden shift. She didn't even flinch.
"You took down Mingdu Police Officer Guan Yue of the Yue Tian Douluo line... your spiritual perception truly is impressive." Seven figures appeared around Xia Hong.
"Sea Dragon Douluo!"
"Sea Spear Douluo!"
"Sea Witch!"
"Sea Illusion Douluo!"
"Sea Star Douluo!"
"Sea Ghost Douluo!"
"Sea Horse Douluo!"
The seven figures revealed their identities—seven Super Douluo, surrounding Xia Hong from all sides.
"I've heard of you. The captains of the seven carrier ships of the Sea God Legion?" Xia Hong raised an eyebrow. "You are soldiers. You do know what desertion means, right?"
"Our desertion will be judged by a military court. It's not for the police to decide," said Sea Dragon Douluo, the leader, in a low voice.
"If it's not for me to judge, then why are you surrounding me?" Xia Hong said coldly.
"We inherited our legacy from the Sea God long before Tang San—from the first Sea God, Poseidon. Before he ascended to the God Realm, he left us a formation: the Sea God Seven Saints Formation. Once activated, not even our Legion Commander could break through it," Sea Witch said with a confident smile.
She had full faith in the formation passed down by Poseidon.
"So? What exactly do you want?" Xia Hong also smiled. "You may have deserted, and that's a matter for military court. But if you attack a police officer, that does give me the right to arrest you."
"Well then, let's see if you can," Sea Dragon Douluo smiled faintly. "The matter of the War God Temple is military business. We're here to ask you, Officer Xia, to stay out of military affairs."
"If you insist on interfering, then you're not leaving here today," Sea Illusion Douluo added.
"Try it, then." Xia Hong sneered.
"Since Officer Xia insists... Formation, activate!" Sea Dragon Douluo snorted coldly and took a step forward. Golden lines spread from beneath his feet toward the others, quickly connecting all seven into a unified whole.
Xia Hong was trapped in the center.
Everything was exactly as Chen Xinjie had predicted—regarding the theft of the Eternal Heaven and the mass defection of the War God Temple, the parliament had voted and made their stance clear: the police would lead the investigation.
During the investigation, the military had to cooperate unconditionally, with no exceptions.
The police could call upon any military resources as needed.
The theft of the Eternal Heaven and the betrayal of the War God Temple was a scandal no one dared to touch—not even the Minister of Police, Heaven Judge Douluo Lang Tian. He didn't dare handle it himself.
With no other option, he dumped the responsibility on Xia Hong.
She was given full authority over the investigation.
In the entire Federation, she was the only one brave enough to confront Chen Xinjie and the War God Temple.
After all, the Sea God Legion was still tied to Chen Xinjie. Though he'd stepped down as Legion Commander, every federal official knew the truth: as long as he remained the Sea God Douluo, those descendants of the Sea God Island's Seven Sacred Pillars would always be loyal to him.
In other words, he could command the Sea God Legion with just one word.
Or more accurately—he didn't even have to say anything. The Legion would act of its own accord to handle his problems.
That's why Lang Tian refused the case.
If he had taken it on personally, he probably would have ended up a corpse by now.
