Cael walked into the pack house like a man carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. His hair was still a little bit damp from his rushed shower, and the scent of regret clung to him more stubbornly than the remnants of Cassandra's perfume. He just wanted to get to his suite, maybe bury himself under cold water again, and find a way to scrub the guilt from his body.
But the moment he opened the door to his suite, his stomach dropped.
Jason was sitting on the couch, arms crossed, jaw clenched, and eyes burning with anger.
Cael blinked then chuckles tiredly. "What are you? my mom? You look like a mom waiting up for the troublesome child that snuck out of the house."
Jason didn't laugh. Instead, he stood. "Where the hell have you been?"
Cael tensed, then gave a nonchalant shrug as he closed the door behind him. "Told you, I went for a drive. I needed to clear my head."
