The email came three days later.

We are thrilled with your latest submission. Your storytelling is powerful, and your unique perspective makes your writing stand out. We would love to feature your piece as one of our highlights for this month. Congratulations!"
Akutu read the words twice, then a third time.
She blinked. Was this real?
Her heart pounded as she reread the email. They wanted to feature her work?
She had spent weeks doubting herself, questioning whether she deserved to be here. And now, here was proof—undeniable proof—that she belonged.
She clutched her phone, excitement bubbling inside her.
For the first time in a long while, she allowed herself to believe it.
Jenny screamed when she told her. "I KNEW IT! I TOLD YOU!"
Kweku grinned. "You better autograph my book when you become famous."
Akutu laughed, feeling lighter than she had in weeks. Maybe she wasn't perfect. Maybe she still had a lot to learn.
But she was good enough.
And the world was starting to see it too.
