Chapter 80 - Chapter 81: Angel’s Dust

Chapter 81: Angel's Dust

The Vatican had also become one of Chang Wei's primary targets of observation.

At this moment, the Vatican had received intelligence about the Hellsing Organization mobilizing in response to an unusual surge in vampire activity in Great Britain. Not wanting to relinquish their "prey" to Hellsing—even though the region was Protestant territory—the Vatican insisted on dispatching personnel to exterminate the vampires.

They sent their trump card to Great Britain to handle the vampire threat.

Seeing this unfold, Chang Wei realized that the Fat Major had decided to proceed with his plan.

"Not bad," Chang Wei mused. He had been concerned that the Sea Lion Plan would be indefinitely postponed, to the point he had even considered heading to South America to confront them directly if the Fat Major decided to retreat.

"Angel's Dust, the Regenerator, Father Anderson…"

Chang Wei eagerly anticipated meeting this priest, knowing that someone like him—deemed a heretic—was likely to be executed. But he wondered, what would happen if he transformed from a heretic into a great angel descending upon the mortal realm in Anderson's presence?

Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Since this was outside Great Britain's jurisdiction, the Vatican had an excuse to intervene. The area was Catholic territory, not Hellsing's domain.

This was also why, in the original storyline, Father Anderson had no hesitation in killing—heretics trespassing on Catholic land had only one fate: death.

The Scene of the Incident: An Apartment Complex.

The apartment building had become a scene of carnage; no living humans remained. These wild vampires, having gained power, knew no restraint. Believing themselves invincible, their first victims were those closest to them.

When Alucard arrived, he began a merciless slaughter. For a vampire of his caliber, dealing with this trash was almost a waste of effort. However, Integra didn't want human casualties, making Alucard the best choice for the job—and Alucard himself had no objections.

Whether he was killing mindless ghouls, lesser vampires, or powerful ones, Alucard maintained his grim smile, harvesting lives and cleaning house.

But as he reloaded his magazine, a blade suddenly pierced his throat.

"Hm?"

Startled, Alucard turned around, only to be impaled through the chest by dozens of blades. These strange weapons glinted with golden runes on their hilts.

"Blessed bayonets?"

Alucard widened his eyes in surprise—he had just lost one of his "lives" upon first contact.

Golden pages from the Bible then scattered throughout the apartment, pinning themselves to the walls and forming a barrier to prevent the vampires from escaping.

"Without Seras around, does this mean Alucard will be dealt with?"

Outside the apartment, Chang Wei observed the battle alongside the werewolf captain and Seras, using telepathy to keep track of the situation inside.

Father Anderson initially believed Alucard was an ordinary vampire, and Alucard thought Anderson was just an ordinary priest. Only after clashing did they realize neither was ordinary.

A single blessed bayonet to the heart cost Alucard one life—a precise, lethal blow.

Then, a towering figure emerged, wielding two blades.

The man's entire form was shrouded in darkness, his features obscured, save for the glint of his twin weapons, the glasses on his face, and the cross hanging from his chest.

"We are the agents of God, the executors of divine punishment on Earth. Our mission is to eradicate every last trace of the ignorant fools who dare defy our Lord—Amen!"

Father Anderson crossed his twin bayonets into the shape of a cross as Alucard's lifeless body slumped to its knees. Laughing maniacally, Anderson derided Hellsing's so-called trump card.

He then approached Alucard like a butcher approaching his prey, decapitating him with one swift strike and pinning the severed head to the wall with another bayonet.

"This is it? This vampire? This is Hellsing's trump card—the strongest vampire they've reared?"

Anderson's laughter dripped with disdain. While it had been a sneak attack, he thought that if Alucard couldn't even detect or evade such a strike, he would have been just as easily dispatched in a direct confrontation.

After all, Anderson was even stronger in direct combat.

However, just as Anderson thought the matter settled, a voice rang out.

"Ah… It's been ages since I last lost my head like this."

Startled, Anderson turned to look at Alucard's severed head on the wall, only to find it had melted into a pool of blood. The body had also vanished.

Perhaps because Integra wasn't present to intervene, or because Seras wasn't there to assist, Alucard skipped the theatrics of feigning death to let his opponent bask in false victory. Instead, he directly revived himself.

A swarm of bats broke through the barrier and flooded into the apartment. Anderson was shocked—such a brute force method of breaking a barrier was utterly impossible for mere vampires, let alone their subordinates.

Then, before his eyes, Alucard resurrected.

"A monster, is it?"

Anderson didn't hesitate. Grinning savagely, he charged at Alucard again. This time, Alucard didn't hold back either. He targeted Anderson's bayonets and, trading injuries for an opportunity, endured their damage before shooting Anderson in the head.

Anderson's lifeless body fell to the ground.

"Foolish bravery, challenging a vampire at night. But it's nothing short of idiotic."

Alucard remarked coldly, criticizing the priest's recklessness and his own carelessness for allowing himself to be decapitated.

"Careful, Count. He's no ordinary priest," a familiar voice suddenly chimed in.

Alucard turned to see Chang Wei smiling at him.

"Count?"

Alucard was surprised—few knew of his identity. Even the Vatican wasn't privy to this detail.

But suddenly, he felt a chill behind him. A towering figure appeared at his back.

"What?!"

Shocked, Alucard couldn't believe a human could survive a headshot.

Anderson's bayonet pierced through Alucard's body once more.

"Vatican traitor, Section XIII. Holy Knight Anderson, Bayonet Anderson, Decapitator Anderson, Angel's Dust, the Regenerator—a product of human technology and healing spells. Ordinary means and firearms cannot kill him…"

Chang Wei provided a detailed explanation.

Though Anderson appeared formidable, with self-healing abilities granted by technology and recovery spells, his defenses weren't as invincible as they seemed. During the final battle, for instance, a shot from the Black Dog pistol severed his arm, preventing regeneration.

The bayonets Anderson wielded were based on a type of rifle bayonet. Since they were manifested from the Bible, the original tube-shaped grip for fitting onto a rifle barrel had been replaced with a wooden handle, as there was no need to attach them to firearms.
