Chapter 121 - Chapter 122: The House of Evolution

Chapter 122: The House of Evolution

Chang Wei spent two days learning every martial art practiced by the martial artists from the original story, including Water Dragon, Bakuzan, Hero, and Lin Lin. He even sought out Atomic Samurai, Haragiri, and the minor swordmasters from the Sword Saint Association.

Then, in an instant, Chang Wei mastered and fused all of them together—so effortlessly that he could hardly believe it himself.

He knew he was strong, but wasn't this a bit too much?

More importantly, he analyzed the flaws and weaknesses in these breathing techniques and optimized them, creating his own Ultimate Breathing Technique—the one most suited to him.

Humans probably wouldn't be able to use this Ultimate Breathing Technique. Even monsters would struggle.

After all, Chang Wei could modify his body's state and structure at will, allowing his martial arts and combat skills to surpass every martial art in the One Punch Man world. Humans couldn't do it, monsters couldn't do it—but he could, and that meant he could transcend them all.

Take foresight, for example: by observing an opponent's posture, line of sight, movements, center of gravity, and breathing, he could predict their attacks and counters, grasping their next move in advance.

Because he dodged before the attack even began, he could evade even light-speed strikes. To outsiders, it looked supernatural—but Chang Wei could do even better.

By reading molecular information, he could construct an opponent's data model in greater detail, eliminating the need to observe posture, movements, or breathing. This microscopic level of analysis was nearly equivalent to foreseeing the future. However, since molecular information was influenced by molecular motion, even Chang Wei could only grasp an individual's molecular data, not the broader regional molecular changes.

But that was enough.

Take the Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist, for example—the principle behind it allowed one to deflect and neutralize attacks with bizarre force redirection. A strike that would normally cause serious injury or death could be rendered ineffective.

Its footwork was akin to teleportation, utilizing unpredictable body movements to deliver precise strikes to vital points.

Its attacks flowed like water—continuous and uninterrupted—while still possessing immense destructive power.

Chang Wei had studied many martial arts theories and understood the concept of formlessness, which could be both hard and soft. Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist seemed to mimic the flow of water itself.

"Breathing techniques really are incredible… I've grown so much stronger because of them."

Because he wasn't purely human, the effects of these breathing techniques were amplified for him. It was like comparing a car engine to a fighter jet engine—they were both engines, but their power levels were worlds apart.

Considering that breathing techniques even had an effect on Awakened Garou, it was clear that their potential ceiling was ridiculously high. And Chang Wei had even merged Ripple Energy with these breathing techniques.

This world truly had a lot of good things to offer.

Chang Wei deliberately avoided contact with the Hero Association. He didn't need their intelligence network to locate monsters, and as for money and fame, those were just a waste of time in his eyes—not worth bothering with.

Based on his recent hunts, Wolf-level monsters typically yielded around ten gene points, with some even lower—he started calling them Dog-level monsters.

Tiger-level monsters ranged from fifty to over a hundred gene points, comparable to Prototype universe Hunters. In terms of raw destructive power, the difference between them wasn't that big. Some Tiger-level monsters could solo a Hunter, while others would be crushed by one.

So far, he had encountered only one Demon-level monster, with a baseline of a thousand gene points.

But with so little data, he couldn't make proper comparisons yet. Besides, that Demon-level monster wasn't particularly strong.

If it weren't for the different stats, Chang Wei wouldn't have even realized it was a Demon-level threat.

He hadn't encountered a Dragon-level monster yet. At the start of the story, Saitama frequently ran into Demon- and Dragon-level threats, but that was just his luck. Chang Wei had roamed around for two days and hadn't seen a single one. He was even considering storming Z-City and dragging out the Monster Association.

However, thinking about Garou's growth, he held back. He was very interested in Garou and Boros, the only two characters in the original story who reached a level beyond Dragon. If it weren't for Saitama's presence, they could have been God-level threats or even God-level monsters.

But since Saitama existed, true God-level disasters didn't really happen, so they were only classified as above Dragon-level.

"The House of Evolution isn't in the same category, though. Ashura Kabuto's gene points might be quite high."

Chang Wei planned to leave the Monster Association alone so Garou could use it as a training ground. But the House of Evolution? That wasn't necessary.

Since he didn't need rest or entertainment, his mobility was incredibly high. The moment he perfected his Ultimate Breathing Technique and turned it into an innate instinct, he set off for the House of Evolution.

Thanks to his perfect recall of the original story's details, he easily pinpointed its location.

"Another failure…"

In the underground laboratory, a man in a black suit—Dr. Genus—stared at the experiment before him.

With a disappointed sigh, he muttered, "Combining human and animal genes to achieve perfect evolution…"

Behind the glass stood a humanoid female—except her appearance was downright terrifying.

She had a well-shaped lower body, but above her perky hips was a black-and-white striped mosquito-like blood sac. Her limbs weren't human either, resembling the segmented appendages of an insect. Her head featured a mosquito proboscis, and on her back were thin, translucent wings.

"Master, we have an intruder!"

Suddenly, a man in a white sterilized lab suit approached. A closer look revealed that he was identical to Dr. Genus.

Not a twin—this was one of Dr. Genus's clones. Since he believed no one else was intelligent enough to assist him, he had cloned himself to serve as his own subordinates.

"An intruder?"

Dr. Genus's interest was piqued. He had placed numerous failed experiments in the building above, using them as guards. While he considered them garbage, their combat abilities were equivalent to Wolf- and even Tiger-level monsters by Hero Association standards.

"He's already reached the underground lab. The failures in the building didn't stop him!"

Clone #22 hurriedly reported.

"Oh?"

Dr. Genus grew even more excited. Did he just find a new, superior test subject?

"Where are Beast King and Armored Gorilla?"

Eagerly, Dr. Genus pulled up the surveillance footage, eager to see his new specimen.

"They've already engaged the intruder," Clone #22 replied.

On the monitor, Beast King and Armored Gorilla appeared before Chang Wei.

As for Crystalmantis and Ground Dragon, Chang Wei had already eliminated them earlier.

The House of Evolution's two Demon-level monsters—Beast King and Armored Gorilla!

At this point, he wasn't sure if Mosquito Girl had emerged yet. Pre-bloodsucking, she was mid-Demon-level; post-bloodsucking, she was high-Demon-level.
