EMMA
Morning light spilled softly across the sheets, kissing the walls with a warm golden hue.
I blinked slowly, adjusting to the quiet. For a moment, I didn't move. There was something unfamiliar about the stillness… comforting, Then I saw him sleeping beside me.
His face, usually so tense and guarded, was serene in the hush of morning.
One arm flung above his head, the other resting close to mine close enough that I could feel the warmth radiating off his skin.
His lashes were thick against his cheekbones, lips parted ever so slightly with each breath he took.
Goodness, the last time I had seen him sleep like this was back in the Moonstone Pack when everything between us was new… fragile… real.
My heart clenched.
I shifted slowly, careful not to wake him, and slid closer until my nose almost brushed his shoulder.
My hand moved on its fingers brushing gently against his chest, then curling around his arm. He didn't stir. Just breathed… deeper.
