Chapter 194 - Chapter 194

"There's no need to worry too much about the strategy. After all, we've already made full preparations beforehand."

The old patriarch spoke with a serious expression, then added, "But don't worry. When the time comes, we'll definitely notify you in advance. For now, it's important to rest well. After the last battle, whether the damage was physical, mental, or something else, rest is absolutely essential."

He wasn't exaggerating. The previous confrontation had been brutal. Without the help of Finn and the others, the entire Angel faction might've been wiped out by the opposing force.

That alone was enough to leave the patriarch with a deep sense of gratitude.

No matter how many benefits they offered, it wouldn't be enough to repay that kind of help.

"That's good. Since you Angels are well-prepared, this is the perfect time to rest."

Wanda nodded and continued eating her breakfast.

"Hurry up and eat. Why so much chatter?"

The Dark Witch gave her a side glance and muttered irritably.

"Go away. It's none of your business."

Wanda shot back, not giving her the satisfaction of a reaction.

Time trickled by.

Two days passed in the blink of an eye.

Out on a narrow road, the scene was vibrant—crowds bustled under the sunny sky, and every face carried a smile as warm as a spring breeze. There was no tension, no irritability. Just peace.

Everything about the place exuded comfort. If one were to compare it to Asgard, it might very well be a close rival in terms of livability.

Meanwhile, the old patriarch was in discussion again, along with Stephen Strange, Brice, and others. Their topic: the next moves concerning the Demon faction.

Finn, however, didn't waste his time on strategic meetings. While he cared about the demon threat, his personality never leaned toward lengthy planning sessions. He preferred action—and when the opportunity arose, taking time to simply enjoy life.

And today's weather was perfect for that. The sun warmed the skin with a gentle caress, free from the oppressive heat of battle. The air was light. Everything felt like it should: peaceful, grounded.

"Finn, it feels like we've been here a long time now," Wanda said, holding Finn's hand. Her eyes were shadowed with something unspoken.

Seeing the look in her eyes, Finn asked, "What's on your mind? You missing Westview?"

He wouldn't be surprised. For someone like Wanda, Westview wasn't just a memory—it was an emotional landmark. The kind that clings to the edges of your mind and resurfaces during quiet moments.

Thinking of Westview brought a kind of bittersweet ache. It was a place of both tragedy and solace.

"In a way," Wanda admitted. "I just want everything to be over. I'm tired of always running, always fighting. Compared to all this, I miss the quiet in Westview... even the calm we had in Asgard."

Her words hung in the air, heavy with longing. The kind of yearning that builds over time and seeps into your bones.

She didn't crave battle anymore. Maybe she never truly had. That side of her—the side that had embraced chaos and destruction—was exhausted. Sick of the endless cycle.

"Actually, I get it," the Dark Witch chimed in. Her tone lacked its usual sharpness. Instead, there was a gentle honesty behind her words. "I feel the same."

Finn glanced over at her, surprised. For someone so focused on strength and survival, hearing her say that was unexpected.

"You do?" he asked.

The Dark Witch nodded. "I've seen too much death, too much destruction. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to just live in peace for a while. Maybe... that's what I've really wanted all along."

She looked into the distance, and for once, there was no mask. No layers of manipulation or power plays. Just hope.

A real, tangible hope.

"Then maybe that time isn't too far away," Wanda said softly. She stepped forward and took the Dark Witch's hand, her touch light but sincere.

They'd come to understand each other deeply. Just one look and they could tell what the other was thinking.

"I believe you," the Dark Witch replied.

She squeezed Wanda's hand back, and for a moment, everything else fell away. Their bond was unspoken but ironclad—two women who had endured far too much and still stood side by side.

Finn watched them, and a sense of quiet satisfaction washed over him. Seeing them like this—at peace, even briefly—meant more than he could say.

"Let's go," he said with a smile. "Last time we were here, we didn't really get to try the local food. Let's change that."

He took the lead, gesturing for them to follow.

"Now that's a plan I like," Wanda agreed, pulling the Dark Witch along with her.

As they walked together, the Dark Witch smiled. It wasn't fake, or forced. Just pure. This—this felt right. For once, things weren't complicated.

Soon, they reached an alleyway unlike any you'd find in New York or even Madripoor.

As soon as they stepped in, the aroma of food enveloped them. The air was thick with savory spices, warm bread, grilled meats, and sweet pastries. Steam rose from open food stalls, each more tempting than the last.

The scent alone was intoxicating—so much so it was hard to believe it hadn't been laced with enchantments.

"Okay, I already love this place," Finn grinned, glancing at a tray of sizzling dumplings that reminded him of the few street carts that used to set up outside the Sanctum when Wong wasn't guarding them like a hawk.

Wanda stepped forward, already reaching for a skewer loaded with grilled vegetables and meat. "We should take this whole street back with us."

"If only," the Dark Witch murmured, licking sauce off her finger. "I might even consider retirement if we had this every day."

Finn chuckled. "You? Retire? I'll believe it when I see it."

But he didn't push. Because even if it was just for today, they all believed they could pretend.

Pretend that the war wasn't still looming.

Pretend that demons weren't waiting in the wings.

Pretend that peace wasn't just a fleeting illusion.

For now, it was enough to eat, laugh, and walk beneath a sunlit sky.

And maybe, just maybe, that was enough.
