"We'll see you then."
Before Alex Carter could react, Lisa Han hung up the call.
This left him feeling confused.
Although the role he played in this situation was indeed quite significant, it didn't seem enough to warrant a visit from one of the main members of Kang Tao—a major corporate figure from another continent—coming in person.
And then there was her statement: His friend is Kang Tao's friend.
No, it had to be more than that.
A lifetime of vigilance had taught Alex never to let his guard down over inexplicable goodwill.
Even if Kang Tao was a state-owned enterprise from the East.
Even if he had a certain level of respect for Kang Tao.
"Alex, are you leaving?" Panam walked over, a hint of reluctance in her eyes.
Alex shook his head with a wry smile. "Not yet. If I leave now, my 'friend' might just show up looking for me."
"Friend?"
Panam looked puzzled.
But in the end, she held back from asking further.
Even though Panam stayed silent, Alex still couldn't shake the uneasy feeling.
God only knew how the Aldecaldos would react when they realized Kang Tao had arrived.
As the sky gradually darkened, campfires lit up throughout the Aldecaldo camp.
People were busy, chatting, and discussing business.
Scorpion, Mitch, and the others were unloading the vehicles while exchanging stories, clearly in good spirits.
However, their peaceful evening was soon disrupted by the roar of engines in the sky.
Two hovering vehicles were approaching at low altitude.
Panam, Scorpion, Mitch, and the rest of the camp immediately went on high alert.
"Shit! Could it be Militech?"
"Grab your gear, now!"
"Wait! Something's off!"
Panam quickly pulled out a high-magnification scope from her watch and took a closer look.
There was no Militech insignia on the hovercrafts.
Instead, they bore a string of yellow Chinese characters: Kang Tao KangTao – Intelligent Electronic Solutions.
"Kang Tao?"
Panam frowned.
The Aldecaldos and Kang Tao had always stayed out of each other's way.
Could it be that the explosion at the power plant had been traced back to them?
At that thought, Panam turned toward Alex.
"Don't worry. They're here for me. This is the friend I was talking about." Alex reassured her with a helpless smile.
"They're here for you?"
Panam was even more confused.
Alex had attacked Kang Tao, so how could he possibly have a friend within the company?
Under Panam's questioning gaze, Alex simply shrugged and said, "I'll explain everything later. For now, just tell everyone to lower their weapons."
Panam nodded.
"They're here for Alex. Everyone, lower your weapons."
The Aldecaldos exchanged glances before hesitantly putting their guns away.
On one side was their family.
On the other was the man who had saved their lives.
So whether it was Panam or Alex, they all chose to trust him.
"Whew..."
The two hovercrafts landed smoothly.
One of the doors slid open, and the first to step out were two armed Kang Tao security personnel.
Fortunately, their weapons were slung on their backs, indicating they weren't looking for a fight.
Finally, a dignified and elegant Eastern woman emerged from the vehicle—Lisa Han.
Beside her stood a young woman with a distinctly Eastern appearance.
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Carter." Lisa Han was the first to extend her hand.
Given the circumstances, Alex certainly wouldn't be rude.
He shook her hand lightly and smiled.
"Ms. Han."
