Aeron exhaled slowly, his grip tightening on Silverfangs, as the massive black dragon loomed over him. The smell of smoke and sulfur filled the air, the oppressive heat of the volcanic cavern pressing in from all sides. The Cannibal's emerald eyes burned with ancient malice, its monstrous wings spread wide, blotting out what little light existed.

Then, the dragon inhaled.

Aeron's instincts screamed.

Without hesitation, he threw himself to the side, just as a torrent of black fire erupted from the beast's maw. It was unlike anything he had ever seen, not red, not orange, not even the brilliant blue of dragonflame. This fire was abyssal, a roaring, consuming void of black and red, eating the air itself, leaving only ashen ruin in its wake. The ground where he had stood was reduced to molten slag in an instant.

"Shit." Aeron barely had time to breathe before the Cannibal lunged.

It came down like a falling mountain, jaws snapping toward him with terrifying speed. Aeron barely twisted mid-roll, his body moving on pure instinct. The beast's teeth crunched into the stone, sending razor-sharp shards flying in all directions. The impact alone rattled his bones.

It was very fast for its size. Too fast.

He couldn't fight this like a normal dragon. This wasn't a mindless beast, it was ancient, experienced, and utterly ruthless, and on top of it all powered by one of the Gods.

Aeron flicked his wrist, his Silverfang daggers flashing as he lunged forward, slashing at the Cannibal's massive foreleg, but the daggers barely left a scratch. Instead, they skidded against the obsidian-hard scales, leaving only a faint white mark.

Aeron's eyes widened.

"Uh Oh."

A thunderous growl rumbled from the Cannibal's throat, almost mocking. Then, with unnatural speed, its tail lashed out.

Aeron had no time to react.

The impact sent him flying, smashing into the cavern wall with a sickening crack. His vision blurred from the pain, but he forced himself to move, rolling away just as another explosion of black fire consumed the spot where he had landed.

This wasn't working. He needed more power, another way.

As he darted around, the dragon launched into the air, its massive wings stirring up a storm of ash and dust. The force alone sent Aeron skidding back, barely keeping his footing. The Cannibal circled above, its massive shadow swallowing him whole.

Then it dove.

Aeron braced himself, both daggers ready, but at the last second, he vanished, Shadowstep.

He reappeared above the Cannibal's neck, daggers poised, he drove them down with all his strength.

CLANG!

The sound was like steel on steel. No penetration.

The dragon snapped its head back violently, and Aeron was nearly thrown off. "Shit, its hide is too thick!"

As the Cannibal twisted mid-air, its massive wings flapped, a hurricane-force gust of wind blasting Aeron backward. He tumbled through the air, but mid-spin, he activated Ruler's Authority, a used [Chains of the Abyss], dozen shadow chains lashed out, grabbing onto the Cannibal's horns, its wings, its back.

He yanked himself toward the dragon, landing between its massive spines.

Now he was on top of the Cannibal.

The dragon roared in fury, twisting and turning, trying to shake him off, its wings beating with titanic strength. The force nearly launched Aeron back into the cavern walls, but he held on for dear life, his gauntleted fingers digging into the gaps between the monster's scales.

The Cannibal spiraled higher, higher, Aeron gritted his teeth.

"Oh, you're not throwing me off that easy!"

One hand released a dagger, and he summoned more shadow chains, coiling around the Cannibal's horns, anchoring himself. The dragon writhed and snapped, but Aeron held fast.

Then, an idea.

Ruler's Authority.

The Cannibal's massive wing suddenly jerked, Aeron willed it to falter.

For just a split second, the dragon stumbled mid-flight, its enormous body twisting in the air awkwardly. It wasn't much, but it was enough.

Aeron slammed both of his daggers down, this time targeting the softer flesh at the base of its skull.

This time, the daggers sank in.

The Cannibal let out a roar of fury, spinning wildly, but Aeron drove the blades deeper, twisting them, sending poison flooding into the wound.

The dragon's wings snapped outward, stopping its fall, and suddenly, it flipped.

Aeron's eyes widened.

The entire beast rotated mid-air, rolling completely upside down.

"Oh, you clever son of a...!"

And then,the Cannibal crashed down.

The force of impact was earth-shattering. Aeron was crushed between its back and the ground, the breath blasted from his lungs. His ribs screamed in pain. His vision swam.

For a moment, everything went black.

Then, he gasped, barely rolling away as the Cannibal's claws came down where he had just been.

Aeron stumbled, coughing blood. He wiped his mouth, smirking despite the pain.

"Alright, you old bastard." He flicked the blood off his blade. "I'll admit, you're not just some oversized lizard."

The Cannibal snorted, flames flickering from its nostrils.

Aeron straightened, rolling his shoulders. His body ached, but his blood was pumping, his eyes burning with violet light.

"But I don't die easy either."

Aeron exhaled, his breath steady despite the battlefield of fire and ruin surrounding him. The Cannibal's black scales shimmered like living obsidian, its emerald serpent eyes glowing with primal fury. It snorted, a burst of black fire escaping its maw, as if mocking him.

Aeron's expression darkened.

"Come forth."

The moment the words left his lips, his shadow exploded.

From the darkness beneath his feet, they surged forth, an army of the abyss.

knights rose with gleaming black blades, their hollow eyes burning with violet fire. Shadowcats emerged, their massive forms prowling with lethal grace. His wolves let loose eerie, howling wails that sent shivers through the air.

And then the black wyverns he had just slain in their shadow form took flight as well.

The battlefield trembled.

Like a horde of death itself, they charged.

The Cannibal's growl turned to a thunderous roar, it was not prey. It was the hunter.

The dragon moved with terrifying speed, its claws flashing out, biting into his wraith-knights, shattering them apart in a single swipe. It snapped its jaws and crushed a shadowcat whole, its teeth sinking through spectral flesh, obliterating it into black mist.

BOOM!

A torrent of black fire erupted from the Cannibal's maw, swallowing half of the battlefield in an apocalyptic inferno. The very rock melted. The wyverns shrieked, their forms engulfed in searing flames, yet they did not falter, they regenerated, their burned bodies twisting back into shape.

The Cannibal snarled in frustration.

It stomped down, sending shockwaves through the cavern.

It ripped through shadow soldiers with sheer force, its claws severing them, its wings battering them, its tail sending bodies flying into the stone walls like ragdolls. Yet no matter how many it destroyed, they rose again.

Then, a blur of black death.

Out of nowhere, a massive shadow Direwolf launched forward at blinding speed.

With a bone-snapping crunch, its jaws clamped down on the Cannibal's horn, and tore it free.

The dragon bellowed in pain, the cavern shaking with the force of its fury.

Aeron smirked.

"Garm!" His voice was laced with satisfaction. "I was wondering where you had been."

The massive direwolf landed gracefully, blood dripping from its maw, its own violet eyes burning like cold embers. The Cannibal's growl met Garm's, the two apex predators sizing each other up.

But the Cannibal had the size and power advantage, the dragon's rage reached its peak.

With an earth-shattering leap, the Cannibal took to the sky.

And then, it unleashed hell.

Flames poured down like a storm, a maelstrom of black and red fire consuming everything in its path. The battlefield became a sea of destruction, as Aeron's army raised their shields, but even shadows struggled against this level of power.

The wraith-knights were blasted apart, their forms burned into nothingness. The wyverns were torn from the air, engulfed in torrents of hellfire. The wolves howled as they faded, their bodies turning to mist.

Even Garm was forced back, its mighty form flickering before being consumed by the flames.

But Aeron, stood unharmed.

His army had protected their monarch.

His violet eyes narrowed, the flames reflecting in their eerie glow.

The Cannibal circled above, smoke billowing from its maw, preparing yet another blast.

Aeron exhaled slowly.

And then, he canceled the summons.

The battlefield fell silent.

No wraiths. No wolves. No wyverns.

Only Aeron remained.

His grip tightened on Direfang, the blade humming with anticipation.

He stepped forward, his voice calm, yet laced with cold menace.

"I don't need my army."

The Cannibal's eyes narrowed.

"Solid of scale you might be, foul dragon…"

Aeron's body tensed.

"But I will riddle your rotten hide with holes…"

His violet gaze burned with absolute confidence.

"You will rue this day."

The Cannibal let loose a deafening roar, shaking the cavern to its core.

It reared back, its throat glowing ominously.

Another firestorm was coming.

And Aeron, simply stood there waiting.
