Maeve's wishes to be with Seth overlaps with Mateo's refusal for his wife to continue taking the pheromone blocking drug and the elders' desire for Maeve to continue taking the drug as their public appearances increase.
Maeve and Mateo keep arguing about this, she wants to take the medicine and Mateo keeps telling her not to. Maeve don't know what the reason is, but the more he rules over her, the more he gets on her nerves. They fought so much that she couldn't see Seth for three months.
His life seemed to be sucked out of her, she missed that child. His nanny said he kept crying and asking for Maeve whereabouts. Seth's room was added with a see-through door designed to block the scent of pheromones in the end because Maeve kept crying, because Seth kept whining.
They met through that door, staring at each other without being able to touch each other.
