Chapter 27 - Questions

Cassius stood outside Camilla's apartment waiting, dressed in all black he embodied the mysterious vibe his rumours suggested. Today he wasn't wearing the charm dimming glasses, they weren't needed on this occasion.

The door opened abruptly with Camilla behind it, 'Sorry I'm not quite ready yet.' She spoke.

'What have I told you about saying sorry?' Cassius smiled teasingly.

'Ahh right! Well come inside and wait I'm almost ready.' She corrected herself giving a look that she was ready for his wit.

Cassius paused. 'I don't think that is a good idea Camilla,' he said clearly showing his desire for her while scanning her body. She wore a floor length skirt with a high slit that showed off her bare thigh and cuddled her hips flawlessly.

'Oh come, I won't bite!' She teased pulling him inside, realising her choice of words she turned and saw his expression. His smile told her there was a high chance they wouldn't make it to their date.

'Nope! Not yet' she stayed strong as she used both hands to cover his mouth for some reason she thought she saw his fangs grow.

Cassius wrapped his hand around her waist to support her as he welcomed her touch, instinctively his tongue licked her hands before she could back away. Regaining his composure he stepped closer once more.

'Sorry, I told you I should wait outside.' Cassius apologised but his smirk didn't show any sign of remorse.

'No, it's ok, just give me a minute to grab my things.' Camilla tried to calm her nerves before she embarrassed herself any further.

While he waited Cassius could see Camilla's apartment was humble, but full of her. Everywhere you looked was another experience, a trace of a friend, a souvenir, it was full of life.

'Okay I'm ready!' Camilla's look was elegantly sexy today, her hair was up revealing her nape, and her top kept her collar bone bare. Her choice of outfit made Cassius wonder if she was tempting him now that she knew he lusted for her blood.

As Camilla got into Cassius' midnight blue sports car, she was glad she dressed up. 'Is this the infamous vampire wealth?' She teased Cassius as he held the door open for her.

'There are many benefits to dating a vampire.' He replied in jest.

The car was smaller than she expected and with the quiet, she became more aware of Cassius presence. He had taken off his leather jacket, his black t shirt wrapped his biceps in a way that stole Camilla's gaze many times.

'So how much blood do you need to stay alive? Camilla broke the silence to take her mind elsewhere.

Cassius couldn't help but release a laugh. 'Not one to waste time, are you? I like that.' He said as his arm rested in between them, 'for myself I don't need blood to survive, think of it as having a glass of wine. You do not need it but sometimes crave a drink, you would not drink any wine, and some special wines are savoured.' Cassius spoke about the subject so eloquently that Camilla forgot they were talking about blood. 'I will say, I am more sensitive in my current state as I had been asleep for some time.' He explained.

'So, you're like... Old?' Camila continued to study his fingers as they indicated while driving, another glance at his forearms as he changed gears.

'Haha yes by your standards you could call me old.' He was enjoying the conversation; it was new for him to explain everything about himself so in detail. 'Any other questions?'

Camilla searched her mind for a moment as there were so many before, but as she looked at his protruding arm veins all questions seemed to escape her.

They arrived at the restaurant before Camilla could gather her thoughts. Following Estefan's advice Cassius took his date to a private dining experience at a sushi bar, one of the numerous establishments that the Crimson family owned. Once they entered, Camilla found the décor exuded a luxurious modern-gothic atmosphere, with greenery hung from the ceiling.

'Are you trying to show off by taking me here?' Camila whispered in Cassius ear as he held her arm in his.

'Another perk?' He whispered back, using it was an excuse to pull her closer as they followed the guide to their room. Camilla noticed the eyes around the room were fixated on her. She could see and hear chatter questioning who or what she was.

Rumours of Cassius' awakening had reached the vampire community, and both women and men would do anything to take Camilla's place. Cassius had his own agenda for bringing her here, it was a place they could enjoy privacy. More importantly, it was a restaurant full of vampires and he wanted to mark his prey in front of everyone, giving them a clear boundary not to cross.

Sooner or later vampires were going to find out about Camilla's blood whether they smelt it or not, he felt this was the best way to protect her.

Protect her? Was that his real desire?

In that moment Cassius decided to stop fighting his feelings, he lived too long to go against himself, he'd rather play along and see where these emotions led him.

The room they were dinning in had a traditional Japanese aesthetic that blended with the gothic theme. The food was already being served as they both took a seat on the floor cushions. Cassius sat next to Camilla brushing his thighs with hers.

'We don't want to be disturbed.' He said to the waiters as they slid the door closed.

'I don't think I've ever tried sushi properly before?' Camilla spoke as she grabbed one of the rolls that looked more like art than food.

'I suppose it's palatable.' Cassius commented.

'Wait you can eat?' Camilla looked shocked as she witnessed Cassius lick the remains off of his thumb.

'Yes, as you can see I can,' he laughed once more, amused with all her questions. 'Although it is not for sustenance, for example,' he grabbed a maki roll and brought it to Camilla's lips to try. 'Seafood like maki have properties similar to an aphrodisiac.' Cassius said as he fed Camilla the roll, his thumb lingered on her lips- the same thumb he licked she thought.

'Does it hurt?' Camilla asked.

'Another question. Well, it is similar to sex, depending on your partner it can either be painful or a very pleasurable experience.' Cassius said leaning into her.

'The thing is, I don't know about that either. It's my first time, for all of this, especially the whole vampire thing.' Camilla began venting out all her insecurities as her fingers fiddled with the napkin in front of her. Her gaze avoiding his. 'But you're the first... I want to... what I mean to say is I'm ready... for you.' She finally got her words out, Camilla turned to Cassius wondering what he thought of her ramblings.

Cassius was in shock for a number of reasons, firstly he was under the impression that people of this time period were very sexually open and that meeting someone as innocent as Camilla was rare. Secondly, he liked that she deemed him worthy of her.

His face went from surprise to yearning as he advanced towards Camilla, she retreated down to the cushioned floor in response.

'If you'll allow me, I will try to restrain myself.' His words were soft but full of passion, waiting for Camilla to give permission.

The room door slid open ajar, 'Sir Cass... ' the server couldn't finish the sentence as Cassius had already thrown his aura, shutting the door with a gust of wind.

'Please excuse the interruption, continue.' Cassius' eyes never left Camilla's, his focus was clear.

Camilla laid underneath him, her legs parted. Her hands caressed her collar bone as she bore it all before him. 'Can you make sure it won't hurt?' She said feeling his gaze intensify.

Cassius wasn't one to blush, but the heat was rising to his face along with his arousal. He could feel her desire without the need of his pheromones, his eyes traced the outline of her breasts beneath her clothes.

'I can do better than that.'
