Caesar received the pack of Midnight cigarettes and paid for the cigarettes and pocketed them,
before turning to exit the store, his eyes briefly meeting Ivanna's with a reassuring glance that said
'I've got this.'
then turned to Ivanna and nodded discreetly towards the door.
Ivanna understood the hint and quickly grabbed her abandoned packet of chips
from the snack aisle where they first met.
Her cheeks flushed slightly as she walked to the counter,
trying to appear casual despite her racing heart.
Mr. Li smiled familiarly at her and scanned the chips:
"That'll be 8 yuan please."
Ivanna paid the full amount and took her chips, her eyes darting towards Caesar,
who has already walked out of the store.
She followed him out by the streetlamp nearby under the evening glow.
Caesar leaned against the lamp post,
pulling out the packet of Midnight cigarettes from his pocket as he saw her.
Their eyes met, and Ivanna felt a surge of gratitude towards him.
