Chapter 55 - Chapter 56: The Hydra Appears

At this moment, Li Cheng's consciousness was already fading from the unbearable pain. He had never imagined that Lin Fan would be so ruthless in his torture.

Earlier, he had been so sure that Lin Fan wouldn't dare kill him. But now, that belief was nothing more than a ridiculous joke.

With Lin Fan's strength, why would he fear the Federation?

Not to mention anything else, but among all the immigrants from Blue Star, there was probably not a single person capable of taking Lin Fan down.

The only reason Lin Fan hadn't killed him earlier wasn't out of fear—it was simply because he didn't want to complicate things unnecessarily.

Now, Li Cheng deeply regretted ever provoking Lin Fan.

This man was far more terrifying than he had ever imagined.

Lying on the ground, gasping for breath, Li Cheng watched as Lin Fan still hadn't drawn his iron sword.

Instead, Lin Fan stepped on him, looking down with an unreadable expression.

At this point, the fear in Li Cheng's eyes had completely vanished. He no longer feared death. His only wish now was for Lin Fan to end him quickly, to spare him from further suffering.

"Please… just kill me," he begged weakly, clutching Lin Fan's clothes, his eyes full of pleading.

They say that when a person is on the brink of death, they begin to see things differently.

Li Cheng had reached that point. He no longer cared about anything else—he just wanted Lin Fan to give him a quick death.

Seeing his expression, Lin Fan let out a cold chuckle.

If Li Cheng had realized this sooner, perhaps he could have avoided his fate.

But there were no "what-ifs" in this world.

Now, there was no way Lin Fan was going to let him go, nor was he going to give him an easy death.

Li Cheng had already pushed him too far, and there was no turning back.

Lin Fan grabbed Li Cheng by the collar with one hand and began dragging him toward the room's exit.

By now, most of the monsters on the second floor had gathered near the staircase, while the floor's boss roared furiously from inside the room, affected by the Nine Nether buff.

The stairway was narrow and could only fit a few hundred monsters at a time, so for now, about two to three hundred creatures had crowded the area.

But in the distance, countless more waited, ready to rush forward the moment space cleared up.

Trying to kill all the monsters here was nearly impossible.

Li Cheng, still in Lin Fan's grasp, coughed up blood helplessly. He had no idea what Lin Fan was planning.

"Please… Lin Fan… I was wrong before. I don't expect your forgiveness… but at least… give me a quick death," he pleaded weakly, barely holding onto consciousness.

He wished he could simply pass out, but the searing pain from his broken arms made it impossible to ignore reality.

Lin Fan dragged him out of the room.

The moment they stepped outside, the countless monsters suddenly seemed to lock onto their target and charged toward them.

Lin Fan stood calmly in place.

But Li Cheng couldn't stay calm at all.

Watching the oncoming horde, his eyes filled with terror.

"You… what are you doing?!" he screamed in panic, struggling violently.

But with both his arms broken, there was no way he could escape Lin Fan's grip.

All he could do was watch, helplessly, as the monsters came rushing toward him.

"Run! Get out of here! If we stay, they'll tear us apart!" Li Cheng shrieked, eyes tightly shut, writhing in desperation to break free. But Lin Fan gave him no chance.

Lin Fan held him firmly in place, his gaze cold and merciless.

"Isn't this the grand spectacle you prepared for me? Don't you want to watch it unfold?"

Lin Fan's voice was low, chilling Li Cheng to the bone.

"Please… no… please… just kill me now! I'll contact the Federation—I swear they won't come after you. Just kill me now, okay?" Li Cheng trembled as he begged, his voice filled with sheer desperation.

He clung tightly to Lin Fan's clothes, searching for even the slightest hint of mercy in his eyes.

But to his utter despair, Lin Fan's gaze remained as cold as ice, completely devoid of emotion.

Realizing this, Li Cheng fell into complete hopelessness.

He should have realized it earlier—this man was far more terrifying and ruthless than he had ever imagined.

Lin Fan hadn't killed him before simply because there were too many people on the first floor of the Nine-Story Monster Tower. He hadn't wanted to stir up a storm on the forums.

He always acted with his own considerations in mind.

But now, Lin Fan was resolute in his decision to kill him—to torture him.

Under these circumstances, nothing Li Cheng said would change his fate.

The Nine Nether buff on Lin Fan continued to take effect.

The boss in the room across from them let out increasingly frenzied roars, slamming against the walls repeatedly, as if trying to break through by sheer force.

Hearing those enraged howls, Li Cheng shut his eyes in despair.

At the same time, quite a few players had noticed the commotion at the stairwell and started heading in their direction.

The grand spectacle that Li Cheng had meticulously prepared was finally about to unfold.

Only now, he was no longer the orchestrator—he was the main act.

Lin Fan smirked and casually tossed Li Cheng onto the ground.

Then, he reached into his backpack, pulled out his iron sword, and sliced his palm open.

Blood seeped from the wound, dripping slowly onto Li Cheng's body.

Since Lin Fan possessed the Nine Nether buff, he knew that his blood carried its power.

Back on the first floor, the mere presence of his blood had sent all the monsters into a frenzy.

So he was certain that if he let his blood fall onto Li Cheng now, every monster in this area would turn on him.

These creatures had originally been Li Cheng's carefully planned "gift" for Lin Fan.

Now, Lin Fan was simply returning the favor—down to the very last bit.

Just as he had predicted, the moment his blood landed on Li Cheng, all the monsters instantly went berserk.

The boss, which had been roaring furiously behind the walls, suddenly smashed through the stone with an earth-shattering crash.

A colossal, nine-headed hydra burst through the crumbling moss-covered wall, sending debris scattering across the ground.

It let out a deafening roar, its many heads swiveling in unison, locking onto Li Cheng.

Just like the serpent-woman had once looked at Lin Fan.

Li Cheng let out a desperate, ear-piercing scream.

Lin Fan had already vanished.

Li Cheng wanted to run, but his body was in shambles.

Both of his arms were broken beyond use. His legs, weakened from excessive blood loss, had lost all strength.

He couldn't escape.

A crushing sense of despair enveloped him as he lay motionless on the ground, completely unable to move.

Meanwhile, more and more players, drawn by the commotion, were gathering at the scene.

As they stepped into the stairwell, they were met with the sight of hundreds of monsters huddled together, their blood-red eyes fixated on a lone, crippled figure on the ground.

And in front of them all stood a towering, ferocious hydra, bellowing at its prey.

"All the monsters are being drawn to that guy?"

"Who is that? Why is he attracting so many monsters? Could that be Lin Fan?"

"No way, that guy looks like a total wreck. His arms are both broken."

"Wait— could it be that Lin Fan got beaten to a pulp?"

"Oh my god— Did Lin Fan really end up in such a miserable state?"
