"Congratulations to this esteemed landowner for successfully bidding 160,000 gold coins for Slave No. 8!" Pande brought the auction hammer down, finalizing the deal and selling Slave No. 8 to the armored landowner.
At that moment, the armored landowner was completely stunned. He stood frozen in place, seemingly unable to accept what had just happened.
Wait… What just happened?
He had spent 160,000 gold coins… on a single slave?
A whole 160,000… just for one slave?
The two landowners standing behind him were equally dumbfounded.
What kind of situation was this?
Weren't the three of them supposed to be setting up Lin Fan?
So why were they now the ones paying 160,000 gold coins for a slave?
This wasn't how the script was supposed to go!
"Didn't you say he would definitely keep bidding?"
"160,000 gold coins for a single slave, and now you expect the three of us to split the cost?!" The landowner behind him completely lost his temper.
He couldn't accept this reality at all—losing over 50,000 gold coins was enough to cost him half his life.
Even though he was considered a wealthy landowner in this region, he couldn't afford such a loss.
The other landowner also turned against him.
"You're paying the 160,000 gold coins alone! I won't contribute a single cent!" he said coldly, immediately distancing himself from the situation.
Hearing this, the other landowner suddenly realized something.
The responsibility of paying for the slave was only an agreement between the three of them. As long as the two of them denied it, what could Pande do?
The one who made the winning bid was the armored landowner, so Pande would only hold him accountable. This matter had nothing to do with them anymore.
He walked over and stood beside the other landowner.
"We already warned you, but you refused to listen. The consequences are yours to bear alone," he sneered, washing his hands of the situation.
At this point, the armored landowner was in full-blown panic.
He could still manage 50,000 gold coins, but where was he supposed to get 160,000?
Even the wealthiest landowner in the region couldn't fork out 160,000 gold coins all at once!
"Wait, didn't we agree at the start that we'd split the cost? How can you two just go back on your word like this?" the armored landowner stammered, his voice trembling. His eyes were filled with desperation as he looked at the other two, almost begging.
But there was no way they would take pity on him.
"Heh, are you the crazy one, or are we? Who would spend 160,000 gold coins on a single slave?"
"We warned you, but you refused to listen. This has nothing to do with us anymore."
Their words were cold and decisive, leaving no room for negotiation.
Meanwhile, Lin Fan sat comfortably on an oak sofa, watching the farce unfold with amusement.
The armored landowner suddenly realized—he had been tricked by Lin Fan.
Otherwise, why had Lin Fan stopped bidding just as he himself was about to back out?
Maybe from the very beginning, Lin Fan never intended to win the slave at all. The whole time, he thought he was scheming against Lin Fan, but in reality, Lin Fan was the one setting him up.
He turned to glare at Lin Fan in frustration.
"You played me? Did you already know I was plotting against you, so you turned the tables on me?"
Lin Fan sat on the oak sofa, took a glass bottle from his backpack, and leisurely drank some water.
"What does this have to do with me? I just thought the price was too high and didn't want to bid anymore. Since you called for 160,000, I had no choice but to painfully give it up to you." Lin Fan put on an expression of utter heartbreak.
But anyone could see he was clearly faking it.
"Damn! This guy is so devious! If he's going to fake tears, could he at least wipe the smirk off his face?"
"Hahaha, why does this scene feel so satisfying?"
"That landowner was trying to set this young man up, but he ended up being played instead."
"Looks like this kid isn't just rich—he's got brains too."
The onlookers laughed and made sarcastic comments as they watched the show unfold.
Hearing Lin Fan's words, the armored landowner was furious.
"You bastard! How dare you play me!" He drew an iron sword from his backpack and charged straight at Lin Fan.
At this point, he had no idea how to come up with 160,000 gold coins. He might as well go all out against Lin Fan to vent his frustration.
Lin Fan remained calmly seated on the oak sofa, finishing the last sip of water from the bottle.
The armored landowner raised his sword and lunged at him. Just when he thought he was about to strike, the man standing behind Lin Fan—Lordson—suddenly moved.
With a single step forward, Lordson grabbed the armored landowner's arm.
"Disable him," Lin Fan said flatly.
The next second, a loud crack echoed through the air as the sound of breaking bones rang out.
The armored landowner let out a miserable scream and collapsed to the ground, convulsing in pain. His arm was completely shattered.
After efficiently crippling his arm, Lordson took a step back and resumed his position at Lin Fan's side.
Lin Fan stood up from the oak sofa, his expression indifferent, his gaze icy as he looked down at the armored landowner.
"I believe I warned you not to mess with me, didn't I?"
"I may be rich, but every slave I bid for is because I believe they are worth the price."
"Trying to use this against me? How ridiculous."
Lin Fan's eyes were cold, a stark contrast to his previously relaxed demeanor.
The armored landowner lay on the ground, his face twisted in agony.
"This is the marketplace of Fishing Village! I am a landowner of Fishing Village! Who the hell are you? You dare cripple my arm?!" he roared, nearly hysterical.
Lin Fan chuckled.
"The fact that you're still alive is already mercy on my part."
"If it weren't for the fact that you still owe Pande money, you'd already be dead."
Hearing this, the armored landowner suddenly sneered.
"Kill me?"
"If I'm not mistaken, you're not from Fishing Village, are you? To kill someone on our land—you've got some nerve." He clutched his broken arm, his face contorted with malice.
Lin Fan glanced at him indifferently, clearly unfazed.
The armored landowner panted heavily, then shouted toward the two landowners behind him, "Go get the village chief! Let's see if this bastard dares to act like he owns the place in our Fishing Village!"
Everyone knew that the village chief of Fishing Village was infamous for fiercely protecting his own. If an outsider dared to harm a local, they were bound to face severe retaliation.
The two landowners exchanged uneasy glances for a moment, but in the end, they decided to fetch the village chief. They turned and ran toward the village.
Seeing this, the armored landowner sneered.
"If you have the guts, don't run. I'd love to see how much power you really have today."
Lin Fan simply shrugged.
"Sure, I won't run. I'd also want to see how much power I have."
