Chapter 2 - a new world

This city was amazing, full of life and full of.. Magic, this world's source of life and It was so abundant here. in bellwood magic was only taught and practiced by those who worked in "city and life betterment fields" things like construction ,farming, transportation and hospitals. And also.. The military. Here magic seemed like something used and granted to the everyday person as if it was a Bodily

function. The more I walked, the more I saw . Making my way through the city I saw how some objects like tables , benches and stands where floating all having these blue crystals on them, some were glowing brightly. I assumed it must be some form of magic being used. Large buildings when high up all around me, some curving, some looking.. regular.. modern like the ones in my home. the more I looked around the more i understood just how entirely ignorant I had been of how the world truly works.. that made my mind go back to the Bellwood fire; had they happened here it would've been nothing but maybe a small house fire;but my town was was small..really small so it was like a devastation. Nearly getting to our crops. And that's where I stepped in. I didn't really know what I was doing something just.. kinda.. took over me. Rohan was there too; he'd been the one to snap me out of my daze when the fire first set a blaze shaking and yelling at me. I don't remember what he said or if I even heard him but Turning to look into is light blue eyes is what gave me the idea to use the towns small secondary water supply to douse the fire.. so I ran to the small secondary water supply on the south east part of town 4 buckets on each arm And we kept getting water and throwing into the fire for 2 hours but felt like 10.. weak and hungry body's were at their limit. We were never able to fully put out the fire, only diming it down enough to just be a slight threat to the crops. Once we'd ran out of energy to even continue standing, the Bellwood chief and the 2 guards stationed at our gate had used water magic to get rid of the rest of the fire. But I passed out before I could even be in awe of the magic at the time. When we awoke to the blurry sight of the Bellwood chief, or chief Mellrod. I tryed to lift my body but it still rang with pain and fatigue,

Stop law back young one said mellrod; do not fight your body's incapabilities. You did well helped greatly out there..,both of you did,

Rohan gave a pained chuckle and smirk not saying anything though; I'm sure from the pain and fatigue he felt as well.

Mellrod gave a smile back at both of us, his grey short and long beard moving slightly as he did so ; his pale green eyes gave off a relieved look and he sat in a chair at the foot of both our beds.

Now.. I've thought hard about a reward for you two boys' bravery and I've come to a conciseness. As you may already know, every 4 years 2 people from town are sent to the justice academy to become officers in our great lands army , and so I've decided I'll be sending you two this year. You have 6 months to prepare; mellrod stood smiled and left the small medical room.

It feel dead silent as me and Rohan strugglingly turned to look At each other, us both having the same look complete and utter shock; our mouths twitched and as gasping painful chuckles come out of our mouths trying to say words but having absolutely nothing to say, all we could do was smile.

Letting the memories bring out small chuckles from me, I recalled the six months of studying, exercising me and Rohan had put ourselves through with occasional help from the chief usually only to correct us and bring us body strengthening food and drinks which were required especially for us our body's were nowhere near feed or toned enough for the training and studying we endured .we studied mostly the basic fighting and ethicat of students at the academy. The chief gave us guides and books stating all these things.

Turning away from my memories and Regaining my focus and Turning my mind and gaze upward to the strange new world in front of me; I took my mind from the magical objects and food to the people. Here everyone seemed to be all wearing something different. And not just that many looked different as well; most walking were wearing different colors in suits and overcoats and top hats or military/battle ware consisting of clocks or tight leather jackets and pants also varying in color and some wore robes and shows with eccentric eye-catching designs. And tricaled in were the most beautiful dresses i had ever seen, not that i had seen many anyways i thought to myself with an internal chuckle .The dresses all glowed and sparkled the same color as the hair and eyes of the woman who wore them.people stepped aside whenever one of those woman walked passed, witch gave the impression they were of great importance in some kind of way. But what stood out most to me even more than those dresses.. Were the people themselves all varying in skin, hair and eye color from light to dark. Some people had elongated ears and noses. Everyone looked the same and yet also so different.Passing all the amazing buildings and structures I pulled out the small map sent to me from the academy, it was hard to understand since I'd never read a map before but I knew what to look for. The school was located in a place called the learners district which made options sense , and it wasn't far from the entry gate.and with that i set off to the learners district.
