The water was cool against my skin, washing away the filth of blood and dirt that clung to me. I let out a slow breath, tilting my head back, letting the moment of peace settle over me. Ronan, of course, ruined it almost immediately.
He turned his attention to Lucien, still standing stiffly by the edge of the lake, arms crossed, gaze locked somewhere in the distance, not looking at us.
He is so respectful, it makes wander how can someone like the vampire king have a son like Lucien.

"What's the matter, vampire?" Ronan teased, floating lazily on his back while keeping the lower half of his body underwater. "You afraid to get wet? Or is it something else?"
Lucien didn't answer. He never did. He just stood there, quiet, like he hadn't even heard him.
Ronan grinned, undeterred. "Oh, I see. You don't wanna strip in front of us, huh? Afraid we're gonna see your body?" He raised a brow. "What, you hiding something under all that?"
