It was raining cats and dogs, two people in front of GPS's bar each held a black umbrella to shelter themselves.
Reaper and Miller stood shell shocked at the entrance, staring in fear the sight ahead, a blood bath of their very comrades.
Miller stares down at Isaac's body melancholically, he knelt down to inspect the wound of his fallen comrade, then looked pensively into Isaac's lifeless eyes.
The disturbing scene even froze Reaper, she stood still utterly terrified at the entrance, staring at all of her men that had been slaughtered like lambs.
Miller closed Isaac's eyes, dropped his umbrella then rushed over all the dead bodies hurriedly into the lounge.
She wasn't there, but the vent was open, and Miller knows where it leads to. He turns back and sprinted outside past Reaper to the alley, exposing himself to the heavy rain.
His steps weaken when he realised what had happened. He took slow and heavy steps towards the body lying on the ground, then stared pensively at the rotting corpse of GPS in the rain.
"...what?" Miller asked himself.
"They got us." Reaper approaches from behind still holding her umbrella.
"How?"
"I don't know."
Miller's body was tensed up, his fists were clenched, teeth was gritting, and he was completely soaked by the rain.
"She have never lost..."
"You know GPS?" Reaper asks.
"I'm the only one in the game that knows her, her name's Carol." Miller's voice were weak, his head was hung, while Reaper had regained her composure, despite losing the usual fierce and strict facial expression, she still manages a neutral appearance.
"How old is she?"
"I think she turned...I think she's gonna turn 12 next month, her birthday's in May."
"I brought your umbrella." Reaper says while holding out the umbrella that Miller dropped om the ground on his way out.
"I'm alright." Miller says as he picks up the bat plush doll left next to GPS's body, his nametag disappeared when he touches it.
"You wanna tell me about her?" Reaper asks, seeing as Miller clearly couldn't accept GPS's passing.
"You wanna hear about it?" Miller says while gazing deeply at the bat plush doll.
"If it makes you feel better."
"...alright." He averts his gaze back onto GPS.
"I know her father, I'm good friends with him, so naturally I know her. She's brilliant, she was just a sweet, innocent child.
That's the case until her parents passed. Her father overdosed, her mother became depressed after knowing her husband's secretly a drug addict and hung herself.
The woman didn't even bother hiding, Carol found her body. It's fucked up.
She didn't have any other relatives so the orphanage was her only choice. I would've taken her in but, I'm struggling financially myself.
So I'd occasionally visit her in the orphanage, she became cold though, so I didn't bother finding her for talks during visit, I simply watch her from afar, make sure she's doing okay.
Uh, for some reason she left the orphanage and got in a car accident which is she she's here, she was 8 at the time. I asked the workers, there's these older dickheads in the orphanage that made her leave the orphanage by herself.
I don't know the details because the worker doesn't, but the fingers pointed to those kids, and those kids were to the reason I went into prison. I died from a prison brawl, I did tell you that right?"
"Yes you did."
"Yeah, the victims wasn't just me from that prison brawl, I wanted to fuck up the other guy here but didn't know where he was. From rumours I heard about GPS, went and requested for her help and, there she is, all alone. Her parents probably didn't survive the first stage.
She doesn't remember me, I'm sure of it, but looking at how a child is running a business, making a living, it's...I don't know...I don't know how to explain it.
I want to help her you know? So I acted as sort of advertisement, I recommended everyone her service, including you for this one.
She's never failed a single task given...never." A subtle smile can be seen on Miller's face for a fraction of a second.
"You know why she never bought any upgrades, why she never even played the game, not Campaign or Endless?" Miller asks.
"No, no I don't."
"Yeah I was thinking too, that much points, the richest player in the game, yet she never uses it for the game itself.
She uses it to hire bodyguards instead, bought an entire building in the shopping district, do you know how expensive that is?
Just to make more and more and more points. So I thought and I thought, what is she doing?
Then I realised, life has nothing for her, she doesn't need to go back. This place...she'd enjoy this place a lot more than being alive.
All this points, she earned because... it's fun, it's fun to have power over others, it's fun to win. She doesn't give a shit about the Life Pass, she just wants to live her best life in the afterlife.
Leader, can I ask you a question?" Miller lifted his head and turned back to Reaper when he asks that question.
"Sure."
"Don't you ever feel like...life has nothing to offer?"
Silence, Reaper couldn't answer the question. Miller seems to have expected silence as the answer, he hung his head again and said,
"When people realised that they have to fight for life, they give up the will to live, it's not worth it."
Miller lifted his head and they stared into eachother's eyes. The rain had perfectly disguised Miller's tears, but his eyes that turned red still gave it away.
"Dawn Breakers will pay." Miller declared.
"They will."
"They certainly will." Another voice of a man came from behind Reaper, they turned to the direction of the voice.
The man that had arrived had an assistant next to him, holding up a purple umbrella for him, while the assistant himself stands in the rain.
The man under the umbrella was wearing an eye-catching golden blazer. One glance and Reaper knew who he was.
"Magician." Golden Magician, the 4th...5th best player in the game now that Shockwave's 2nd. Also the leader of the fourth strongest alliance, The Ones Above All.
"Reaper. I'm sorry for your loss, I extend my sincerest condolences." Magician said with his right palm on his chest and a formal bow.
"Why are you here?" Being competitors, Reaper doesn't let her guard down.
"A weapon that functions in a place it shouldn't, wielded by a serial killer on the loose, this is a threat to everyone.
Dawn Breakers is everyone's enemy, me and my alliance are willing to lend a hand in your operation of subjugating them."
"No." Miller stood forward and said with a rage filled face, "We're killing them."
