Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Does the Soul Exist?

Chapter 12: Does the Soul Exist?

[Tower of Babylon on the Siberian Snowfield...

Theresa, who was on the seventh-generation fighter jet of the Schicksal, was browsing the information sent by Bishop Otto. When she saw that 322 people in the laboratory suddenly disappeared overnight, her hands trembled.

"The wasteland... late at night... and mysterious disappearances... could it be haunted?"

Theresa's fair little face turned even paler, but after she touched the photo of herself and little Kiana in her pocket, she became determined again.

The plane landed on the snowy field. The propeller, which had not yet stopped, created a strong wind, ruffling Theresa's hair. Theresa looked at the person who came to greet her with surprise.

 "You're...Patricia! Long time no see!"

 "Hey."]

"Aunt didn't expect you were still afraid of ghosts?! Hahahahaha."

Kiana boldly began to tease the principal.

Amid Kiana's rude ridicule and everyone's friendly laughter, Theresa's face turned red, and she raised her head and roared, "Shut up! You stinky Cillian, I, Theresa, will never coexist with you!"

 "Hahahahahaha."

 …

In the theater where the premiere was held, Patricia looked at the detailed model she had worked on for several nights and nodded with satisfaction. However, when she thought of the following plot, her face darkened again.

Shub rolled her eyes at her. It was good enough that there was a plot. Unlike her and Salome, they were forgotten as soon as they appeared.

As if she saw Shub's look, Salome nodded in approval.

Cheng Lixue didn't have much objection. It could be said that in this movie, her role was the most impressive among the Snow Wolf Squad.

 …

In the Golden Courtyard, Elysia's eyes sparkled. She covered her face with her hands and muttered, "So cute, Cillian, my dear Cillian, is Theresa also so petite and delicate in real life?"

Looking at Elysia who was shaking Cillian's arm and acting coquettishly, Mobius rolled her eyes at her in annoyance and wished she could sit between the two of them.

"Okay, Elysia, let me think about it. Theresa, although she is petite and cute in real life, she is not as exaggerated as in the anime." Cillian said helplessly: "As far as I can remember, Theresa seems to be this tall..."

"Since you can remember?" Elysia's eyes widened with confusion.

Cillian smiled and said, "Yes, I remember that fifteen years ago, Theresa was already her current height."

 Mei leaned on Kevin's shoulder.

Mobius lay on the back of Cillian's chair.

But Cillian was chatting happily with Elysia.

Su frowned, smiled, and shook his head.

[After Theresa and Patricia met, they went to the monitoring room of the Tower of Babylon. Looking at the white ghost in the monitoring, Theresa shuddered with fear. Patricia's face became solemn, and her slender and handsome hands flew on the keyboard.

"Could it be...is it really a ghost?!"

"No, there are no ghosts in this world." Patricia pulled up the historical records of the Babylon Tower's Honkai reactor and said confidently, "Almost all the mysterious phenomena in this world are caused by Honkai energy, and this time is no exception."

The historical records of the Honkai reactor showed an abnormal pause last night, but the monitoring authority was blocked. The reactor area was filled with rich Honkai energy, so only she and Theresa could go down to investigate.

"Just... the two of us?!" Theresa pointed at Patricia with one finger and at herself with the other, becoming unconfident.

"Yes, just the two of us." Unlike the panicked Theresa, Patricia smiled gently. ]

"Soul? Interesting." Mobius suddenly became interested.

Vill-V excitedly patted Cillian on the shoulder and asked, "Cillian, do you think there are really souls in the world?"

When Vill-V asked this question, everyone looked at Cillian curiously.

What is the soul? Does it exist? This discussion has never stopped. Some people believe that the soul is real. They firmly believe that the soul is immortal, the spirit ascends to heaven, and they believe in the so-called afterlife. However, some people do not believe in the soul. They believe that the death of the body means the dissipation of consciousness, and only the spirit will be passed on.

Cillian once asked himself whether the soul really exists. He experienced everything in his dream like God. At that time, he looked at the blue star from the moon and heard them shouting "Fight for all the beauty in the world."

"The world allows consciousness to match new containers, but does not allow containers to collect dissipated consciousness." Cillian borrowed a sentence from the Fool to express his thoughts.

A strange light appeared in the eyes of Mobius, Mei, and Vill-V at the same time.

"Is this your new theory? It's really a brand new direction, but it seems that you don't believe in the so-called soul theory. That's right, your movie also mentioned that there are no ghosts in the world." Vill-V seemed to be ill again and kept talking to herself.

"This is not my theory." Cillian said in a flat tone.

"Who is that?" There was greed in Mobius' eyes, the look of a snake looking at its prey.

 "Bishop Otto's."

Cillian bowed his head slightly to express his highest respect to that person.

Everyone was puzzled. They had never seen Cillian so respectful when talking about Schicksal President Otto.

[Theresa and Patricia came to the Tower of Babylon reactor area. Patricia was the first to discover slight residues of Honkai energy on the ground. In this darker scene, Theresa was afraid that an unknown thing will suddenly appear from somewhere, and she begins to stutter when she speaks.

Patricia couldn't help but smile as she watched this scene. She had defeated even the emperor-level Honkai beast but was scared by a ghost like this. Especially when she thought of Theresa who screamed in fear after being scared by the carousel last time.

"Help... Help, is there anyone there? Come... Save us..."

Some faint cries for help echoed in the empty area. The two people's faces changed. Patricia looked in the direction of the sound seriously. Theresa screamed in fear: "Ghost... a ghost is coming out!"

"No, this is the voice of a human girl!"

Patricia and Theresa trotted towards the direction of the sound. Next to the Honkai energy reactor was an extremely empty large factory building, like a prison. Theresa was wondering why there was such a place in the research institute.

Patricia had already grasped the hand that stretched out from the iron bars. The dim light shone on the girl's thin face, which still had many scars. She looked at the person who came with tearful eyes.

 "Save…save us…"

Patricia lowered her head, her brown and white hair covering her eyes. ]

"Why? Why is there a prison in the institute? And..." Pardo looked at Cillian who was sitting in the back row in disbelief.

Kevin was still smiling but suddenly became gloomy.

 Su frowned.

Mei uttered a few words: "Human experiment."

"Beast!" Kalpas broke the armrest of the chair with a punch and looked at Cillian with a gasp. His eyes seemed as if he would attack Cillian if Cillian said yes.

 Elysia became unusually serious.

"I knew you would ask this." Cillian sighed and said with a smile, "Don't worry, if anyone in Schicksal's research institute dares to conduct human experiments in violation of the rules, they will definitely not see the sun the next day."

Cillian was so sure because he was in control of the Schicksal research direction before, and he once tied up 47 researchers with hundreds of pounds of rocks and threw them into the center of the Pacific Ocean in one day.

Cillian didn't care whether exposing Schicksal's past mistakes would cause its stock price to plummet, and Otto certainly didn't care either.

However, Otto was worried whether Kallen would take all this into his own hands.

As expected, Kallen, who was happily eating potato chips, fell silent.

 "Otto, Schicksal will not..."

Otto quickly put his arm around Kallen's slender waist, letting her bury her head in his chest, and comforted her softly, "It's okay, Kallen. Schicksal won't have the same problems as in the movie, because the person who actually controls the research direction is Cillian."

 "Um..."

Otto smiled bitterly. Kallen couldn't stand just this. If all the contents were released...
